Re: Play Nier: Automata already

except for the part where his music has been stuck in my head for a week now. Or possibly great BECAUSE of that. It's hard to say. Just wanted to underscore this point: the music in this game (or these game s , rather) would be worth the price of admission alone. Some of it can be a little overblow...

Re: Play Nier: Automata already

I have never played the original. Nor have I. I could tell that there were some references to something I was missing, but it was almost all in the form of flavor text notes you could find in the world, "Gestalt Project Archives" and whatnot. No effect on my enjoyment or understanding of ...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

First special House election of the season is done, in Kansas 4; the Republican candidate won by an 8% margin, in a district that Trump won by 27% and the former Republican rep won by 31%. That's a heck of a swing in a matter of months, even if some of it can be attributed to the state's wildly unpo...

Correction: another couple was asked first, but did not disembark. According to passengers on the plane , that couple refused, so the airline staff moved on to the Daos. Somehow, they didn't escalate that and call in three cops. " Conflicting accounts ", says that same journalist; other p...

IDB is Involuntary Denied Boarding , and Dr. Dao wasn't denied boarding. He had boarded and was seated, which means we're not Rule 25 of the CoC, which is IDBs, we're in Rule 21, which is Refusal of Transport . Not nearly as well settled as you might think. "Boarding" is more commonly hel...

Re: Bogus, batshit, banal, bizarre, or bicubic: Assorted News

It seems quite clear that the best way to handle this, when no passengers agreed to leave the flight for $800, would have been to raise the offer until it became appealing enough for four people to accept it. I bet they could have found four people who would have taken another flight for substantia...

A case with twelve drive bays seems like overkill for a build using zero, the M.2 SSD not needing one.

NieR: Automata is perhaps the only game where within five minutes you can go from an android musing on the Ship of Theseus Paradox as it applies to the components of his own body, to fighting a team of Western-themed robots. There's also a sidequest event that I swear is straight up channeling Ryan ...

Re: Brontos Are Doin' It for Themselves

I have had the dubious fun of repairing a few of the exact same surface-mount microUSB jacks, on some gear where the cable was mounted at a right angle to the direction the cable was most likely to get yanked. It was not impressive design. Assuming you can get it resoldered back down successfully (I...

Re: Little Pig, Little Pig! Let Me Admin! (Security Thread)

It's a banner month for circumventing basic security practices. Exhibit B: Google has crafted a practical attack on SHA-1 . A nice big "I told you so" to the hardline approach they've taken to shaming-out SHA-1 TLS certificates for the last several years. Exhibit B-and-a-half: Turns out t...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

I can't speak much to reliability of used cars, unless you want to hear all about my Volvo that is probably older than some of our posters. But I do get to drive a wide variety of smallish rental cars, and based on that experience alone I'd probably get either a Ford Focus or a Mazda 3 if I needed a...

Tom Price as prospective Secretary of Health & Human Services? I can see the hand of Mike Pence in that appointment, and I'm continuing to be amazed/terrified at their ability to pick the person that can most effectively destroy their department for every successive Cabinet pick.
