Re: Race: The Final Frontier

Brutal. Especially that headline.

Deservedly so.

Re: Barefoot and Pregnant

I took it as her speaking more socially. There may not actually be roving lynch mobs, but there are certainly internet lynch mobs, where a person may have been judged publicly and their life effectively ruined before legal due process is allowed to take place. It's a plea to let cooler heads prevail...

Oh hey... We lost the original Expanded Universe for this: https://i.imgur.com/2A8JdcH.png From "Join the Resistance: Escape from Vodran" Yes this is weird humiliatory fart pseudo-porn. Yes this is genuine. Yes this is a licensed and "canon" Disney Star Wars book.

On the subject of accusations being taken as evidence, Margaret Atwood had a very good essay today in the Globe.

Re: Star Wars

I mean, the nicest thing I can say about TLJ is that there were a few fleeting moments when it really did feel like "Star Wars" to me. I'm not really invested in it as a "Star Wars fan". My thing as a kid was Star Trek and I only came to the Star Wars train as I was becoming disi...

Re: Star Wars

I don't buy that Star Wars is too "sacred" to change. People just want the same shit over and over. Seriously, I can't wait till Rey and Kylo have kids and one of them betrays the other one and it turns out one of them is related to Han's former roomate and the Dark Side is tempting but t...

Re: Star Wars

The other thing that really upsets me me is how the sequels have gone out of their way to make every character in the OT suffer. Everything they did is meaningless. Every success they won is undone. Their lives after RotJ are depicted as ones of failure and sorrow and pain. That's a fucking gut-punc...

Re: Star Wars

It's sad to me because it's such a fun universe and it still had potential to explore new stories (my blah blah mighta-been in the spoiler is an example), but yeah, there's so many expectations and it's so "sacred" that there's always going to be too many cooks and too much second-guessing.

Re: Star Wars

Also saw it tonight. We used our free tickets to experience the novelty of 4D X just to see what it was like (somewhat unimpressive and even mildly annoying). There things I liked and didn't like and I could go on in detail if I wanted to. Ultimately I feel the prequels were an example of solid fund...

Re: Game musings and news

Per recent patent filings and investor promotion, EA's latest plan is to deliberately rig matchmaking (secretly, under the hood, of course) in their online games to try and increase retention and monetization. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_QaTtvI2tg It would be really funny if this ends up being...

So apparently this is a thing that happened today:

(Incidentally I had no idea who Tulsi Gabbard was before this. She seems like a good egg)
