Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams
Dreamed I was back in high school and was trying to figure out my class schedule. I had to go to the office to get it sorted out, and in the middle of talking with the admin there I realised the entire thing was dumb since I had graduated years ago. But I was still trapped in the school, so I just r...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams
I haven't remembered any of my dreams for awhile, but I remembered this one. Sort of. It's the future, on some alien planet. Our hero is a female fighter pilot with a space place that has lasers and missiles and such. She's on one side of something people aren't technically calling a war, but is so ...

Huh. I stopped visiting them when they got a little too clickbait for me, but that's still sad.

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is one of the most brilliantly designed games I've ever played, and a 100% perfect example of what I'm talking about when I say art is the use of a medium to tell a theme or story in a way that wouldn't work in any other medium. When you have a bunch of kids getting in power...

Re: Friday does what Nintendon't
The manual has a brief list of some of the more important skills/techniques in the game, if you want it. PS always used kind of weird spell names, so it might be worth taking a glance. Of course, it also goes over all the playable characters including folks you haven't met yet. (but since they're i...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams
Had a long series of dreams revolving around the theme of me being in high school while being an adult with a full-time job. In one I was failing because of having a job, in another there was an earthquake and I ended up staying in the classroom to make sure everyone got out safely (because adult), ...

Re: Kickstarter
Backed for about as much as my first pick for Bloodstained. I feel reasonably confident in them - if you actually read the entire thing, they have a long list of mistakes they've seen other KSes do and how to avoid them, so at least they're trying to learn from others. And they have the folks that r...

I like everything about Earthbound except actually playing it. Every time I think of replaying it I remember Peaceful Rest Valley and the desert and click on a different rom.

Re: Friday's Ultimate Vanity Project: 100 Games, 100 Reviews
FF Type-0 had almost as many playable characters as FF6 (12 to 6's 14), but there wasn't really much to them. Chrono Cross's roster was huge; I'd say it felt closer to a Suikoden game than to FF6. Suikoden has a much better idea of which characters are important than CC does. It's also generally be...

Re: Friday's Ultimate Vanity Project: 100 Games, 100 Reviews
I didn't like Super Metroid as much as I quite expected to, but that's mostly down to really not liking how Samus jumps. I realise it's all carefully crafted and such, but I don't like it. And on a fundamental level I like double jumping more than high-jumping. I don't regret playing it, it's just t...

On a personal level, I prefer Suikoden I for various reasons, but I can't deny that II is a very good game and deserves all the acclaim.

The Summon Generic Enemy shards are actually really fun.
I'm not sure you can blame the game for you not taking advantage of all the fun things you can do in it.

I really hope that at some point, if Bloodstained becomes a series, that they go back to play with the dual character gimmick instead of refining the Soul/Glyph gimmick. Just do PoR right.

I've been reading a lot of books lately. The Doomsday Book, by Connie Willis: The best book to read during a pandemic. The Ancien Regime and the Revolution, by Alexis de Tocqueville: How much do you care about 18th century French government? Really good if you do. Vanishing Fleece, by Clara Parkes: ...
