[01:19:58] <BongoBill> It's "Avidemux" in case you needed one yourself.
[01:20:03] <myew> Kill yourself in the case.
[01:20:16] <BongoBill> How rude.

Re: State of the Brontos

The bots that are still posting seem to have registered accounts before the new measures went into effect. Can we just have a purge of the userlist from that era? (Looks like January 24th is the biggest day).

Re: No, it's Civilization, silly.

I got Civ 6 from the Humble Monthly and I've gotta say, it's pretty trash. Religious victory is just worthless at high difficulty. Religious pressure is cumulative, and since you have to bomb every other Civ that started a religion (or conquer them, but then you may as well be going conquest), you c...

Re: Harry Potter and the Portrait That Looked Too Much Like Katestory

Kazz vigorously continued to make them uncomfortably close to being hustled. Kate muttered something about whitey. Geothermal kicked Thad's rocketship for no explicable reason, really. "Whaddaya mean you're still stuck here?" said Captain Concussion. Thad responded conspiratorially, "...

Re: Harry Potter and the Portrait That Looked Too Much Like Katestory

Nowhere, as they found, was too damn near. Kelly's alternate reality wasn't quite as twisted as they emerged in front of Nowhere. Narnia was not there, yet as they approached the magic robot, lions with honed reflexes were standing over them. Thad shrugged helplessly, until finally, fifty billion po...

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

Okay, I broke up the Katestory text into five separate chunks and then linked them all together; I'm getting text suggestions from all five, with words that only occur in one fragment.

Give it a try and see how it works for you.

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

I'm not seeing anything in the word offerings after September 1996 or so, which makes me think that Botnik either ran into something that prevented it from parsing further, or (more likely) only builds associations for a limited sample size to improve speed. If the latter is the case, I may be able...

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

On the plus side, it looks like you can link directly to the Katestory source! This should make it easier to participate on a whim.

(Also, this discussion may want to get moved to another thread)

Re: Harry Potter and the Portrait That Looked Too Much Like Katestory

[ An attempt at continuity starts here ] Cougars, being the only thing in this reality that was too short to kill Billy, turned to Kelly and sprang up at her. Thaddeus growled angrily and lunged at Kelly, who had realized that she was in Narnia. Havoc ensued. Sonic the Hedgehog leapt upon spikes tha...

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

It's possible there's a termination character or something in the txt file; I mostly just hit Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C for the Katestories on the boards, which copied a lot of extraneous shit. Since the Katestories are distributed across different formats and board incarnations, it's a bit less trivi...

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

I haven't checked to see if the predictive keyboard is using pure Markov (memory-free) or like a shifting window to generate suggestions. The limited nature of its suggestions are definitely a problem for more common words, where you just end up with the same 18 suggestions over and over. In particu...

Re: Harry Potter and the Portrait That Looked Too Much Like Katestory

Thad wrote the story, but someone was watching. "Would anybody tell me what the hell is going on? " He could easily tell that words were all he could get. Brent spoke out of the sky, saying, "This is the first time for a little while that we have appeared on the boards. " "W...
