I have played SO2 more times than any human should and one thing that always strikes me is that to pair Opera with anyone other than her canonical boyfriend the easiest path is to straight up let her boyfriend die, which would be garden variety fucked up if Claude couldn't get a ton of points wi...

Let's hit every major Mario debate while we're here. I've always held that World's level design is much more interesting than 3. A Mario 3 level is typically so short that it barely has time to explore its gimmicks before the level is over. This helps lesser gimmicks as they can't outstay their welc...

It's probably worth noting that Nintendo would consider Galaxy 1 and 2 to be more in the lineage of 2D Mario, obstacle courses. In pre-release material they implied that only 64, Sunshine and Odyssey are in the garden design paradigm.

I once asked a Pillars of Eternty dev at a PAX panel if they felt like they had to hold back on improving the game too much because the people who backed their kickstarter wanted janky old IE shit and got a laugh and a very long version of "yes"

The degree to which GTA3 steps up from 1, the London expansions and 2 shouldn't be understated, the degree to which VC steps up from 3 is also retrospectively huge, though there were many contemporary reviews that admitted they thought of the game as GTA3.5. 2D GTA prior to 3 is an arcade game exten...

Re: Flawed Game Showdown
I have opinions here, hopefully they don't become incoherent. I respect what 8 is attempting but I feel like there's a fundamental failure in how its gameplay works. Using GFs in combat is hideously tedious, but the only way to alleviate a need for them is to get spells, there is no way to passively...

Dreamed an amalgamation of people I haven't seen in ages had come out of a coma after 10 years miraculously cognizant, it was my sad duty to catch them up on what has become of their personal relations and the world in the intervening decade, very strange dream.

Just noticed this thread and wanted to say the kind words are a pick-me-up Friday. I still feel like a recent addition to this community even 6 years in so it felt nice to be mentioned. I understand having a hard time making this kind of thread, though for me it's that I often worry compliments I gi...

Shit, I've been forgetting to check this even when Friday mentions it, in my folly I see Def Jam fell and Drakengard advanced so now I must cleanse with fury.
