Re: Rooty-tooty point and shootys

I know. It just gave me a chuckle. And highlights for good or bad how the AR-15 HAS become the poster child for this sort of thing. The AR-15 was popular in the first place mainly because it "Looks military scary" and it has tons of accessory mounts and accessories, so you can add more mi...

Re: Rooty-tooty point and shootys

The AR-15 is not the problem, it's just the most commonly owned model of gun in the US so they end up showing up in crime more often too. If AR-15s get banned, people will kill each other with other semi-auto guns that are either wholly not AR-15s, or technically-not-AR15s-because-slight-difference-...

Even though there's nothing in the rulebook that says a dog can't be governor, Kansas still won't let Air Bud file for candidacy.

I still can't believe the CBS still doesn't take blood donations from gay men. Sure they keep reducing it, but it's seriously fucked up that they haven't abolished that restriction yet. (To non-Canadians: Yes they'll accept donations from gay men... but only those who've been abstinent for a year. ...

Re: Science!

Waymo uses captcha technology in real time. Right when the car in front of you moves to avoid the fire truck, someone trying to buy PUBG on GMG will have to identify which parts of the image are firetruck for you to avoid it. I mean it isn't real time, but that is actually why Captcha asks you to i...

Re: Science!

What I'm curious about now is that if Google's Waymo IS able to deal with situations like this, what shape does Waymo's process tree for doing so look like? Because two other, separate companies with different engineering teams came across this same problem and both dealt with it in the same (terri...

Re: Science!

Telling people that they have to pay attention at all times and be prepared to take over for the AI is way worse than just telling people that they have to drive the car at all times and that there is no AI. This is why Waymo (the Google self driving car) is 100%-AI-only from the start; they starte...

Might've been mechanical turked - get a human to look at it once, then send several bots in.

I assume someone told Trump that transparency was important for talking about the wall project, and Trump didn't understand what that meant so he did his usual "didn't-actually-read-the-book report" tactic.
