Re: Healing Systems and The Games That Love Them

The best Healing system in any game I've ever played was Dark Souls 2, specifically. Estus/Sunny D is the best but in Dark Souls 2 bosses were actually coded to react to you drinking if they weren't in an animation, meaning you'd be punished for healing without first dodging an attack. Yes, this is ...

Re: The Ends (Act 5: The Return)

4. sssssssssssssssssssssssssss Alright, enough is enough. You told Benny to handle to situation, and he did that, so it's time for him to take the backseat again. You concentrate. Jesse looks at you oddly as you suddenly stop moving and fall silent. "You okay?" she asks, worry on her youn...

Re: The Ends (Act 5: The Return)

Characters: Jonathan: Our hero. The story is told from his perspective entirely. All other perspectives so far have been through the alleged hivemind link/dreams. Your typical 20-something semi-capable everyman. His personality was intentionally left blank but your choices have molded him into a cal...

The Ends (Act 5: The Return)

Old chapter link. I'm not going to link all the old chapters, they're scattered to hell and back all over the fossilized boards, but if you really want to read the whole thing again, it's all there, somewhere. Let's get a short recap out of the way. You died trying to save Jacob, the ex-doctor who ...

Re: Doctor Who

And the set I'm currently listening to is a deliberate throwback to an era that caused public backlash for being too dark and violent You know, the funny thing is, I'd actually have more respect (not enough to think as highly of it as I do TNG, but) for Trek's idiotic explosion murder fest if it di...

Re: Doctor Who

It's just not my cup of tea (get it, because it's British) but I have a lot of respect for it. I do like that the series is, on the whole, relentless optimistic, which is a nice switch from what has happened to Star Trek now that Star Trek is entirely about horrible shit, lasers, and explosions foll...

Can you elaborate? I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Are you trying to say that all Capitalism is "End-Stage" or?

Boomers: An analysis

hi, Friday here, age Millennials, and I'm here to kill Applebees chew bubblegum, but I'm all out of bubblegum, because I can't afford bubblegum talk about the basic (general) structural psychological differences between the Boomers and the current generation. I am of course inviting dissent ...

Re: Doctor Who

I've never been able to get into Doctor Who, but I've always thought it was cool that the old Doctors sometimes show back up in time travel eps to strut their stuff. The fact that this practice goes back as far as four and five is just amazing.

Re: Pros and Cons of Punching a Nazi Just Square in the Dick

punchline of video

Is there such a thing?

No joke, there isn't. Non-violent racist groups inspire and incite violent racists. You can be directly a violent racist or you can be an inciting violence racist. (Well, technically, the directly violent racists are also inciters.)

Yeah, you're probably right. I should reframe my hope to "if deal happens, then I hope people see the bad shit anyway."

Re: The Brexit Boondoggle

Or, put another way, if there's any upside to no-deal Brexit, (and this would be the only possible upside) it's "maybe the world will learn something from it." I mean, that may be too hopeful. Human beings, if nothing else, have historically proven that they don't learn jack shit from, wel...

Re: The Brexit Boondoggle

Yeah, I'm aware it's an extremely cold take. For the record I vastly prefer a "actually nevermind, fuck Brexit entirely, stay in the EU" result. I'm just really afraid of deal-Brexit sort of kind of working and then other dickheads pointing at it as an example of how actually being a isola...

Re: The Brexit Boondoggle

I remain hopeful that the world learns from a no-deal Brexit. This can include Britain too. Basically, I want everyone to see what happens when you go full protectionist anti-refugee. I feel bad about the people who will suffer, and the people who will die (and there will be people who die, as a dir...
