Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

After a couple years of mostly not having migraines, my body has devised a new and exciting sort of migraine that is in a different part of my head and has lasted 5 days. x_x

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

We love to do salmon in our sous vide. And eggs. And chicken breast that will be going into other dishes, like soup. Matt would do red meat more but I can't chew it.

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

I also had never heard of milk pie, despite being cousins to Wisconsin. Is it just like any other creme pie? (Having never made any sort of creme pie). Also all you guys talking about mashed potatoes made me have to make shepherd's pie last night. I could have taken a picture but instead we just ate...

Re: A take so hot I think I got singed reading it.

Our department put up a bulletin board for voting day, encouraging people to think about and write on the board how they were going to vote / get to the polls. Mostly it's a lot of "getting up early before class!" "driving 2 hours to my hometown!" "Absentee!" but one pe...

Re: A Brief History of Brontoforumus

I would like to take this moment to interrupt, and note that over the last nearly 20 years of my life, this community (by which I mostly mean the IRC channel, but I swirl both together in my head, like a cheesecake brownie) has been friends and family to me. When I needed help, I was helped. When I ...

Happy Halloween!

I made pumpkin cookies, and brought them to work with pumpkin chai! And organic candy corn!

It's candy and dress-up day! Yaaaaay!

Highly paid professionals who provide images as MS Word documents.

Seriously.

Why does this keep happening?

I had a dream last night where in addition to whatever else was happening, Mister Rogers was there. Just being really nice and understanding to everyone.

Re: A Brief History of Brontoforumus

I've been around since like day 3 of the IRC channel, and I still only get half the jokes. The key is to guess when it's safe to smile and nod.

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

I was in an antique shop with my mom today, and in a jumble of overturned wooden things I recognized a vintage hat block!! Marked down to $22. I'd been looking at them online a while ago, so i knew one with the brim would cost ~$150 online. It's even my head size!

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

Our ragey downstairs neighbour who enjoys pounding walls etc. to vent his spleen is having a pound/stomp wall war with some other neighbour adjacent to or below him and it's fucking hilarious. Mongrel, was just listening to this and it made me think of your housing situation. https://www.youtube.co...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

I was having a pretty bad dream last night, the only part I can remember clearly is that I really needed to escape, but in front of the car kept appearing old ladies in wheelchairs and kids on bikes. Which is a pretty mean trick.

I bought a silicone mat for forming fondant lace, that I've been too scared to try. If I get it to work, I don't think it would be tooooo much fondant (and if it is, it could be easily peeled off the rest of the icing).

Re: Oh those pet peeves

My workplace is pretty good about reasonable accomodations. But my office is also in a school so if a pack of undergrads dipped in Axe (or whatever the kids wear now) wander in there's nothing much to be done. It really doesn't come up much, though. The last smelly-person moved out of my office to a...

Re: Oh those pet peeves

I've never heard anyone refer to a scent free or free scent environment, though I suppose any public space rotates between the two. I have mentally filed people wearing colognes you can smell several feet away in the same category of inconsiderate nuisance as people who blare their car music so you ...
