Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

As soon as I stepped outside this morning to go to work, a bird pooped on me.

I guess it was bound to happen eventually, and at least it hit my jacket instead of my fancy dress, but still feels like a bad way to start a Monday.

Re: Brontos Are Doin' It for Themselves

There's no glass (only the glass that the parts sit inside), and the metal part can be removed from the area entirely to work on it. It's a metal filter threaded onto a metal arm. I think maybe they're brass? My bf likes the idea of being able to repair it, I'm not sure how likely it is he'll ruin i...

Re: Brontos Are Doin' It for Themselves

Beatbandit, I didn't know that was a thing, thanks. I found this, is this what you were talking about? https://www.kmstools.com/blog/hand-taps-proper-tapping-techniques/ Teflon tape is a real thing? I'll look into it. I'm guessing I don't want any adhesives in my coffee at all though. Mongrel, I'd a...

Re: Brontos Are Doin' It for Themselves

I have a Royal Belgian coffee maker , and I love it, but the threads broke attaching the metal filter head to the arm. The part that's inside the glass in the photo. I can't find replacement parts and there is no customer service. Does anyone know of a _food safe_ way I could reattach it? Even if it...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

Mongrel, I had several dealerships offer me the Carfax (total car history report) for cars I was only casually looking at. I think many good dealerships will print one for you for free so definitely ask. I used autotrader.com a lot to search and compare area used cars. I'm not sure whether it works ...

Butter is a delicious condiment or just as a snack by itself.

I think this sets the tone for where this recipe is going.

Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention. I just want everyone to wear armor clothes. Knight-punk can be the new steampunk.

Re: Kickstarter

They're very close to making the men's leggings stretch goal, I think they'll probably hit it at this point.

I backed for the Scudamore leggings. I'm excited that these are meant to ship before Gen Con.

Damn, the question is do I get one of them, or all of them. Too bad they aren't actually armored enough to wear for fencing.

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

Setting is my parents' house. The basement has a sliding glass door looking out on the woodsy back yard. Suddenly, a bunch of woodland animals are running through the trees, scrabbling up against the glass doors, terrified, trying to get in. I look out to see what's happening, and I see the human-sh...

I was lying on the floor last night, and my friend's shiba inu tried to offer me the ball, to my mouth. I got such a case of giggles.

Re: Weather

Yeah, it's been spring in Michigan for several days, and is apparently going to continue with spring/summer weather for several more. (50 - 70 F degree days.) It's fun walking around without a coat on in February, but I hope this doesn't destroy the apple crop or something. I've definitely been seei...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

In conclusion, I bought a 2011 Mazda 3 last night. I looked into Hondas and apparently you cannot find a good used Honda anywhere in Michigan, they get snapped up too fast or something.

I like it, except I have to get used to the headlights not being automatic (and how, in fact, they even switch on).

My bf supports the NRDC https://www.nrdc.org/ as a good environmental charity. I donate to the NAACP LDF. http://www.naacpldf.org/ and the ACLU (but who doesn't rite) And my friends who use Planned Parenthood praise them as doing good things. I don't have the bandwidth or knowledge to do much myself...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

Wow. Okay, thanks for the input guys, I had not found that info just googling around. I am definitely looking for something that's primarily reliable, and preferably somewhat smaller than my Pontiac Grand Prix. Do you have any suggestions for those criteria (also <$10k used)? There are a lot of cars...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

I've only ever driven / had 4-door sedans, but tomorrow I'm going to go test drive a MINI Cooper. It might be fun, having a little car? No one ever sits in my back seat anyway. And it looks like it's pretty safe and drives reasonably well in snow and ice.

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

Closely entangled with the creation of marshmallows, I made the Perfect Cocoa last night. At least, what my mouth insists is the perfect cocoa. Richly chocolatey, barely sweetened, and topped with homemade marshmallows. 2 Tbsp non-alkalized cocoa powder (I used Mindo, I think it's local) 1 cup milk ...

Love you, Friday.

I've been on both sides of that story, they're both awful. Hope you've got someone close by who can be hugs and sounding board. If you ever need to rant or be given e-hugs, you know where to find me.
