Re: Why did this even happen?

I just noticed a glob of peanut butter on top of my modem.

I wish I had more details than that.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

"Tiens ma bière!"

Hopefully the first round will have diluted the sane vote, and it'll concentrate again for the 1v1, but yeah, at this point and given recent history, it's anyone's guess.

how can one picture be so perfect and accurate, while still being so very likely to convey a completely wrong impression to someone who doesn't know what it's about

Re: I Did Something (Political)

Well... Yeah. I mean, I get it. It's dirt boring for 55 minutes. It's church boring. Heck, at least Mass has pleasant organ music. And then poor people lose their homes and half the parking downtown goes up in smoke. Man, stuff's fucked up. Something something banality of evil cough cough. Cripes I ...

Re: I Did Something (Political)

I attended the city council meeting tonight. I was literally the only member of the public in the room, and at some point it dawned on me that I was also the only person there who wasn't obligated to be there. I don't know how these things usually go but I had a weird feeling my presence was a total...

Re: Play Nier: Automata already

Just wanted to underscore this point: the music in this game (or these game s , rather) would be worth the price of admission alone. Some of it can be a little overblown, but it's never boring, and when it's great, it's fucking PHENOMENAL. just going to leave this here https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Play Nier: Automata already

I'm going to give you an innocuous example of the sort of thing you're missing. There's a merchant who mentions something about how he doesn't own his shop, he just runs it for this lady named Accord who supplies him with these incredibly ancient weapons that are nonetheless in pretty great shape. I...

Re: Play Nier: Automata already

Automata definitely has a few scenes and plot elements that have extra oomph to their emotional impact if you're familiar with the original NieR and/or the Drakengard series ( holy shit that moment when the Song of the Ancients starts playing ), but I'm pretty confident that none of it leaves you ou...

I'm very much getting an impression of an 11 year old playing GTA with cheats on.

Re: I Did Something (Political)

Oh wow, the registry actually needed 41 signatures to pass. It got 44. :D :D :D The city administration is now deciding whether it's worth it to go to referendum, or if it just cancels the rezoning process entirely. I'm not sure what the time frame for that is, but I'll be attending the next council...

Re: I Did Something (Political)

And done. Came in twenty minutes after opening, second name on the list, with the third right behind me. It's in everyone else's hands now. Man but their shit's hostile though. It's a bit of a hollow comparison, but two different people had to verify my ID and place of residence, while actually voti...

Re: I Did Something (Political)

Very few population centers outside of Montréal and Québec City are both large enough and remote enough to have a local branch of the big TV networks, so your average citizen is more likely to know more about the municipal politics of Montréal/Québec City than their own. Which is of course all kinds...

Re: I Did Something (Political)

Oh man, some more info came to light in the local paper and the whole thing's a goddamn rabbit hole of shitty decisions. Okay so. Downtown Saint-Hyacinthe has a pretty big parking problem. There's a commercial street running through it, densely packed with all kinds of mid- to high-class shops and c...

Re: I Did Something (Political)

A few weeks back, I signed a petition to signify opposition to a municipal administration scheme to change zoning boundaries around a block in my neighborhood that they had bought in order to tear down the three apartment buildings (housing 11 families, mostly Haitian immigrants by now IIRC) there a...

Re: Shin Megami Threadsei

Heck, if a LP of the original NieR hadn't made me into a huge fan despite not owning a console that can play it, I definitely wouldn't have pre-ordered its sequel. In fact, considering the criticism it got, if I had played it myself, it seems there's a fair chance I would have disliked it. The LP di...

Try the brand new All Sugar Oreos! They're all sugar!

It's a bag of sugar.

Just pour it in.

You know that's what you want.

No worries, it's nut-free.

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

Gah, I know. The worst is, it's hard to really talk about it because there are so many aspects to it that I'm glad I got to experience without prior knowledge, and I'd just tiptoe around everything. OMG the thing! And the other thing! Man! Maaaaan!

"Pisseth off." Oh Lordy.

Re: Videogame music appreciation thread

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et8Rw01LvzI This is the first level track for Drakengard, one of the few games I've played that I actually hate. I'm sure you'll note that it is trash garbage. It is trash garbage that loops a great many times over missions of repetitive combat against repetitive ene...

The trick to blow your guests' minds and tastebuds is to serve Out Of Meat as a main course, and then have Completely Meat Chocolate Pie and Whole Chicken Cookies as dessert.

Re: Spam Bam Thank You Mam

The sentence "I'm sorry, your depression is in another castle" comes to mind but I can't imagine a scenario where Bowser keeps stealing Mario's depression and Mario keeps trying to get it back.
