So, regarding the question about what happened to all the free Talkin' Toons downloads:

3 gigs of them just showed up on Feed Burner.

Re: TV Series On The Television

Season 4 is a lot like season 3. It's got occasional bright spots, mostly from Ralph Dibny, so it hasn't entirely forgotten how to be fun...but it mostly has. Legends is great now, though. Also, I thought Black Lightning had a fantastic debut season. It's like if The Incredibles were a drama, set ag...

Re: Justice

Kris Kobach is not having a good year. In January, the Kansas secretary of state’s voter-fraud commission disbanded in an effort to duck multiple lawsuits. In March, his claims of widespread noncitizen voting were torn apart in open court, reducing his defining crusade to a punchline. And on Wednes...

Re: TV Series On The Television

I'm a little behind on Flash; I just watched the episode where the A story is that Barry is mad at Ralph for making jokes all the time. And it's like, wow, they've distilled everything that's gone horribly wrong with the show into an actual plotline, to the point that the main character is actually ...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

Yeah, it looks like I can get a smooth and consistent 30fps at Very High settings if I change my system refresh rate to 30 and turn on vsync in the game. There's probably a way to set up a script that'll do that automatically; change the system refresh rate when the game's launched and after it exit...

Re: Game musings and news

It appears that you can buy Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill on cartridge now.

There was word, during the Kickstarter, about being able to buy it as a ROM download too, but I haven't seen any such release for non-backers yet.

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

Good to know; I'll look into it.

As for the controller issue, I was running the latest Steam beta; I downgraded to the stable version and that fixed it.

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

Well, my system RAM is above the recommended specs (recommended is 12GB, I've got 16). I think my graphics card's only got 4GB, so that could be it. Could also be the processor, which is only an i3. I fired up GameMode and it's improved the framerate, so that suggests the processor was at least part...

Re: TV Series On The Television

Gotta say, the most recent Silicon Valley kinda really irritates me the more I think about it. An A-plot about how hard it is to be a Christian and how they're a minority that faces discrimination can kinda fuck completely off, y'know? It didn't offend me, but it was pretty hacky. I don't think the...

Re: IT IS THE YEAR 2005

I learned a few new things about the coming Transformers finale. While Barber is writing Unicron #0, the one that's coming out for FCBD, the rest of the series appears to be credited to Roberts (with Milne, who was his artist for most of MTMTE). So I guess I'm picking that up. They got a good long r...

Also, Steam has suddenly and bafflingly started blocking Bluetooth connections from my PS4 controllers. If I pair a controller while Steam is open, it will briefly connect and then immediately disconnect. If I pair it when Steam isn't open, it'll pair just fine, but as soon as I open Steam it discon...

Yeah, the new Nancy is legitimately good. And not just because Olds fucking loathe it with the burning passion of their arthritic joints. Not all of them. I can't find it right now but I saw a good comment the other day to the effect of "Man, I've been reading Nancy since the Bushmiller days a...

Re: Hey [%target] Whatcha Playin'?

I'm enjoying Rise of the Tomb Raider so far, but man, I've never had a framerate this inconsistent. Benchmarking an average 80 FPS on the Very High preset sounds good, but when the variance is a low of 15 and a high of 180, that's pretty fucking janky. I have to kick it down to Low just to consisten...

You can't not find it fucking funny that after all these years, Dogstar still thinks it's everyone else's fault, right? He even frames "Getting mad at a pun made by Mongrel" as "Everyone told me to go fuck myself so I told them how I really feel." About as funny as how after all...

I don't know the internal realpolitick of the FBI, but could Mueller not just tell him to fuck off and carry on going to work like nothing happened? It seems likely that no-one would be keen on enforcing it. Well, presumably what would actually happen mechanically is that the President would order ...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

Pretty irritated to see Comey treated as a celebrity, and even a hero. Adam Serwer at the Atlantic sums up my feelings pretty well in a piece called James Comey Is No Hero . Not only does Serwer remind us that Comey probably tipped the election to Trump , he also points out that his rationale for se...

Re: Hot game deals

I've heard it's better with two players (though perfectly serviceable with just one). I hadn't thought about dialogue trees and plot decisions as a reason why, but now that I think about it it makes a lot of sense.

No freebies, but the top 150 most-wishlisted games are on sale.

I just bought a whole lot of isometric RPGs in a Humble Bundle, but I don't have Divinity: Original Sin yet. Hm.
