Re: Thundercats

998567328299257857 This is what I'm talking about when I mention loving attention to detail. Look at that control room. 997602322300653568 I mean, poorly promoting a show, dicking around its schedule so that it's never clear when it's going to be on, and then saying "we cancelled it because no...

Re: (SPOILERS) Infinity War and Beyond (Marvel Thread)

I liked how they just immediately got Thanos vs Hulk out of the way. I didn't. "Bad guy shows up and immediately kicks the ass of the toughest superhero to show how much of a badass he is" is such a lazy cliche. And they had him beat up Hulk and Thor in the first five minutes. It was fine...

Weeks? Are we in for a dry spell?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that school shootings will probably decrease between the months of June and August, yes.

Agreed, but the numbers also don't add up to 100%.

Yeah, even if you assume all of those numbers ended in ".5" and they rounded down, that would still only get you to 99.5.

...I mean, I'll give this thing a chance. It's possible it might not suck. Sure, I'm not sold on the style, the tone, or the man-bun. But there really is some loving attention to detail in there. That intro is pleasingly kinetic and does a solid job of summarizing the first few episodes of TOS (and ...

Lucifer has also been cancelled. I'm okay with it ending where it did, but there's a campaign to bring it back.

Maybe CW will take it. They could use another show based on a DC comic; they only have six.

A new Alamo Drafthouse just opened in Tempe. (Or, officially, the grand opening is next Thursday. But they're running a training week right now, with discounts on food while the staff learns the ropes.) I got to drink two beers and eat a chicken sandwich with motherfucking brie on it while I watched...

So I wonder if Deadpool 2 means that my signed copy of the first appearance of Zeitgeist is worth a lot of money now.

I, Tonya is great, part white-trash Greek tragedy and part character-based absurdist comedy. The material is great (and sometimes postmodern; it tells us upfront that this story is being told by unreliable narrators, and occasionally reminds us by having the characters directly address the camera an...

Re: Comics for People who Don't Read Comics

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (collected in The Don Rosa Library volumes 4 and 5) is every bit the stone-cold classic its reputation suggests. If there's one caveat, it's this: while the series stands on its own, you'll get a lot more out of it if you've read the original Barks stories that i...

Bunnie Huang is crowdfunding a video device designed to modify video signals before output. He's creating it, in part, to help establish standing for his lawsuit against the US government over the DMCA's anti-circumvention clause. As you presumably all know by now, the DMCA makes it illegal to circu...

I didn't catch the Mandatory Fun tour, but I've seen him quite a few times over the years; I know what you mean about backing videos (in his polka medleys, in particular, he'll usually have sped-up versions of the music videos from the songs he's parodying synced up with his singing them). While his...

Fridge Logic on the ending of Rebels: Okay so Hera's definitely been pregnant for the last ten episodes . That was awfully nice of Sabine to look after Lothal from its liberation to sometime after the end of Return of the Jedi, but...like, couldn't her family have used her help? I know she ...
