Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

I don't know the internal realpolitick of the FBI, but could Mueller not just tell him to fuck off and carry on going to work like nothing happened? It seems likely that no-one would be keen on enforcing it. Well, presumably what would actually happen mechanically is that the President would order ...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

Pretty irritated to see Comey treated as a celebrity, and even a hero. Adam Serwer at the Atlantic sums up my feelings pretty well in a piece called James Comey Is No Hero . Not only does Serwer remind us that Comey probably tipped the election to Trump , he also points out that his rationale for se...

Re: Hot game deals

I've heard it's better with two players (though perfectly serviceable with just one). I hadn't thought about dialogue trees and plot decisions as a reason why, but now that I think about it it makes a lot of sense.

Re: Hot game deals

No freebies, but the top 150 most-wishlisted games are on sale.

I just bought a whole lot of isometric RPGs in a Humble Bundle, but I don't have Divinity: Original Sin yet. Hm.

Re: Weather

Weather's all over the place this week. Forecast high of 90 today, 76 tomorrow, then up to 84, then down to 81, then 89, then 93. Obviously the farther out the forecast gets the less reliable it is, but given the variation we've been having over the last few days, I wouldn't be surprised if those nu...

Re: Hot game deals

They sent an e-mail out yesterday. It's got this in it:

We'll be granting thousands of wishes to active GOG.COM members on Monday, April 16. Awesome, right? We're not mind readers though, so, you know...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

That depends. There are exceptions to attorney-client privilege. If you and your attorney are plotting criminal activity together, that's not privileged. It's unclear how much, if any, of what they seized was direct communication between Trump and Cohen; Trump doesn't use e-mail, so none of the e-ma...

Re: Hot game deals

GOG has introduced a wishlist feature, and implied that if you put some stuff on it before Monday, you might get some freebies. I've put some stuff on mine -- hey, why not? -- but I've been surprised to see how many games are Windows-only on GOG even though they have Linux versions available on Stea...

Re: and Dead Tree Comics

Deathstroke #30 starts the Deathstroke vs. Batman arc. Its first two pages feature Alfred and Wintergreen hanging out in a British-style pub, watching football and complaining about their respective proteges. I love shit like this. It's not as good as that issue where Deathstroke was put on trial by...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

More from Ken White on the Cohen raid, at Popehat and in the Failing New York Times . Recently I've been listening to the Podcast "Slow Burn," about Watergate. There's a fascinating theme throughout it: when you're living a historical event, how do you know? How can you tell when a develop...

Re: Bogus, batshit, banal, bizarre, or bicubic: Assorted News

Regardless of whether or not anyone has actually stolen his blood, there are increasing reports that Stan Lee's health is failing and his caregivers are exploiting him, and possibly outright abusing him. I don't want to link to any of the allegations; instead, I'll link to this post by Mark Evanier ...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

This has probably already been covered, but none of the new sites' wordings were clear enough for me. Can proof, or major evidence, of crimes or suspected crimes not tied in any way to the Russians or the 2016 election that are discovered by Mueller still be prosecuted or at least used as a basis f...

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

No matter how many stupid things Trump says and does, I'm still constantly...not surprised , exactly, but caught off-guard, perhaps?, by his total lack of thought. He's fuming about this raid, and...dude, the other day you told reporters that Cohen paid hush money to a porn star without your knowled...

Re: TV Series On The Television

The thing that bugs me most about Timeless at this point (spoilers for the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2 follow): Emma's heel turn makes no sense . I mean, I get the hook that Rittenhouse has placed sleeper agents throughout history just in case they're ever needed. But she spent eig...

Re: Oh those pet peeves

Atheists in fantasy settings where gods clearly and unambiguously exist . The other day I watched an episode of SHIELD. Somebody asked if Ghost Rider was an Inhuman; somebody else responded that he says he isn't, he got his powers by making a deal with the devil. Fitz scoffs and says that's impossi...

Re: TV Series On The Television

And on the subject of time-travel shows: Have I mentioned how Legends of Tomorrow has become the best DC show? In last week's episode, titled "Guest Starring John Noble", they realized that Mallus had exactly the same voice as Mallus, and so they traveled back in time to when Lord of the R...

Re: Hot game deals

Several good sales on; I'm getting these from Gaming on Linux but of course they all have Windows versions too. (And most are probably also on Mac. Do we have any Mac gamers here?) SteamWorld Dig for $5 at GOG caught my eye. SteamWorld Dig 2 is on sale too, for $15. Steam has the Metro Redux Bundle ...
