Re: Let's all go to the movies~

On the fictional front I can't get past the various magical nations' legal systems competing to make Dracula and the Inquisition look like time out at daycare. Cross these guys and they won't leave any part of your soul intact to meet your creator. Does Rowling have some things she needs to talk th...

Re: Let's all go to the movies~

The biggest problem with Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald...well, really the biggest problem is, Johnny Depp is a wife-beater and should be shunned by polite society, and if you don't want to pay money to see something he's in, I don't blame you. The second -biggest problem is right there...

I just realized that "Senator Sinema" is very hard to say.

It's been called for Sinema ; McSally has conceded . Things are looking pretty good for Hoffman and Hobbs , too, though those races haven't been called yet. https://frinkiac.com/meme/S05E15/507005.jpg?b64lines=IEkgRkVFTCBTTyBGVUxMIE9GLS0gLQogV0hBVCdTIFRIRSBPUFBPU0lURSBPRgogU0hBTUU_ Meanwhile: Forme...

Re: Arizona is a blasted hellscape

McSally's campaign appears to be jumping on the "it was rigged" bandwagon. The Republic : McSally's campaign did not immediately weigh in on the latest update. Shortly before the results were posted, McSally asked followers of her Facebook page to report any problems they may have had when...

Re: Arizona is a blasted hellscape

Sinema lead continues to grow . At this point we are officially well inside the votes that Republican strategist were predicting would break toward McSally, and they're not. With only 3 precincts left, it's difficult to imagine that there are enough McSally votes left to swing it over to her. It de...

And Lost Light has come to its bittersweet end and, as the kids say, made me feel all the feels. I feel like I should write more about the whole thing, something comprehensive. It's not just my favorite Transformers series of all time, it's one of my favorite comics . I'm going to remember it like I...

Re: MST3K, Rifftrax, & sundry

The Turkey Day Marathon will start four days early this year, on Sunday the 18th, so as not to overlap with the release of the new season on Thanksgiving Day. (And apparently they're going to be running MST3K on that page all month, but that's not the same thing as the Turkey Day Marathon. Not sure ...

Re: The Many Poisonous Animals of the Amazon

Amazon’s HQ2 was a con, not a contest “I lease office space all the time for my businesses and I always tell my real estate agent, ‘We can lease any office in the world as long as I can walk there from where I live,’” Galloway said on the latest episode. “Amazon is now talking about having three he...

Re: Arizona is a blasted hellscape

The Republican argument in this case was, "There are three counties that are still allowing voters to confirm ballots with mismatched signatures; that's not fair because the rest of the counties won't do that after election day." That is a perfectly reasonable argument, if you ignore the (...

I feel like I've got nothing to say that everybody hasn't already said, but maybe it'll help for me to say it too.

Friday, I'm so sorry. This is heartbreaking. I'm glad you're safe, and I'm here in case you need anything.

Re: Arizona is a blasted hellscape

Part of it is that this is just an unprecedented turnout for a midterm election. Most votes were tallied on election day, and most races were called on election day too. It's just that we've got some close races and they're still counting provincial and absentee ballots. And yeah, there was an effor...

Best Buy's Black Friday sales will include a PS4 Slim 1TB with Spider-Man for $200, starting November 18 (note: not Black Friday, nor even a Friday). I've got a couple of policies about Black Friday, which largely amount to "I will not jump through any hoops." Want me to go to the mall on...

Re: Arizona is a blasted hellscape

That's just under a full point swing (a bit more than one point gained total) in less that 24 hours. Those votes must have almost all been for Sinema. Nothing suspicious about that at allllllll. There actually isn't. They're counting Democratic-leaning districts right now; the Republican-leaning on...

Re: Election 2018

It's worth noting that, even where Republicans won major races, Democrats had important victories.

Beto lost, but Democrats had major victories in the Texas appellate court.

Gillum lost, but the map might look different next time since Amendment 4 passed.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

If Whitaker interferes, he opens himself up to an obstruction of justice investigation. If we accept that impeachment is unlikely and the best outcome of the Mueller probe is that Trump doesn't get re-elected because he's a crook, there are plenty of things a Democratic House can do to make that poi...

Re: Election 2018

Arizona's Senate race is still too close to call. As the count stands right now, Sinema is trailing slightly -- by less than the number of votes that went to Green Party candidate Angela Green, who last week dropped out of the race and endorsed Sinema (after her name was already on the ballot and ea...

I wonder how Maine is going to turn out. Mad at them for letting LePage get termed out instead of voted out. But ranked voting? I liked the idea when I first heard of it, and then I heard about it on Radiolab. If it's anything like they say, it could change everything. But this is America we're tal...

Re: Election 2018

Ducey got reelected. We've just gutted the Clean Elections Commission; all its rules now require approval from a governor-appointed panel. This passed because the description of the ballot prop was pretty much a lie. On the plus side, the prop to expand school vouchers got struck down. Senate race s...
