Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

That's a rough one, hng. There's a lot of overqualified people out there, but just keep it up. Having been on a few hiring committees now, it's probably not so much they rejected you as a committee of people argued for a couple hours until they ultimately compromised on a different candidate.

Tonight's weather: Snowing, 6°F, chance of meteors.

My friends and I saw the flash and couldn't explain it, but guessed possibly an exploding power line. Then a friend a mile away texted me about it and we got curious.

Re: navigating the overworld

Oooh, I love Indian food, I'll definitely check out Rasika. I don't know how much time I'll have for traveling, so I'll look at the rest on a map, thanks.

I looked at some menus and was all, "why do all of these places have seafood??" Oh, oh right.

Re: navigating the overworld

I haven't reserved a hotel yet, but likely within walking distance of AEI (1789 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20036). Anywhere between that and the art museums would be keen, especially near subway exits. Mazian says to take the subways.

Re: Weather

I had an 8:00am doctor's appointment today. I drove there in the rain, which started sounding a bit too sharp and then was definitely ice by the time I parked. I came out an hour later to a half-inch of snow on everything. Driving home was nerve-wracking, and it was impossible to get into my drivewa...

Re: navigating the overworld

Yeah, preferably non-civic. Though it did cross my mind to open a rotten tomato stand on the White House lawn. I'll probably walk through a couple of said museums, but if Mongrel's friend knows of any foods I must eat in the White House area, that would be keen.

/me casts REVIVE on topic

So, work is talking about sending me to Washington, DC for a work-thing in March. Any of y'all around there? Or know of things I ought to do? I might have a half-day of free time.

It's never gotten to -40 here, but we've had windchill in the -10 to -20 range all week. Next week it's apparently going to rain? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

I had an awesome dream about watching a Dragon Quest anime. I guess it was more Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest, since it was all monsters. I can't remember much except it was great and it was in Japanese, so I had to hit the "Subtitles" button on the remote. But I remember hearing the Japanes...

Re: Fun Facts

It really is called "Black Friday" because the crowds are terrible , and not because it's the day retail stores go "into the black" as some would have it. Huh, that is interesting. I mean, when I did retail all the store workers used it to mean "dreadful" but we were a...
