Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

I really, really enjoyed the books, when I read them 13 years ago. It sounds like your problem is that you Read the Comments.

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

I noticed last night that I was dreaming, and I was going to ignore it and keep doing the dream but then I remembered Yoji's post and decided to start flying instead. (I was half surprised when it worked.) I was inside a building and stayed there, but zoomed around for a while anyway.

Re: Books

I'd never heard anything about RPO except the title, thanks for saving me the trouble. I'm halfway through The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu. The first half is some heavy history, but it's important stuff as well as important to the story. I think I'm just about to get to the adventure part of the ...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

I dreamt again about being horrifically abused while thousands of people could see but did nothing. At least I'm fighting back now. I remember details but they're too upsetting. It's a really weird feeling to wake up while I've been screaming and crying to find that I'm still and awake, but I can st...

Re: Tabletop & Board Games

A friend got Thunderstone Quest from the recent kickstarter, and it's great. If you've played Thunderstone Advance, it's a lot of the same ideas, but with some different mechanics and twists. I'm planning to get it myself once they've got it in stores. Only downside is the box is the size of three D...

Damn, never saw this back in October. Only commenting because he's coming _to my town_ in March?? Like three blocks from where I work. (Nobody comes here!?) There are VIP tickets left but I don't think I'm $279 hardcore.

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

That's a rough one, hng. There's a lot of overqualified people out there, but just keep it up. Having been on a few hiring committees now, it's probably not so much they rejected you as a committee of people argued for a couple hours until they ultimately compromised on a different candidate.

Tonight's weather: Snowing, 6°F, chance of meteors.

My friends and I saw the flash and couldn't explain it, but guessed possibly an exploding power line. Then a friend a mile away texted me about it and we got curious.

Re: navigating the overworld

Oooh, I love Indian food, I'll definitely check out Rasika. I don't know how much time I'll have for traveling, so I'll look at the rest on a map, thanks.

I looked at some menus and was all, "why do all of these places have seafood??" Oh, oh right.

Re: navigating the overworld

I haven't reserved a hotel yet, but likely within walking distance of AEI (1789 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20036). Anywhere between that and the art museums would be keen, especially near subway exits. Mazian says to take the subways.

Re: Weather

I had an 8:00am doctor's appointment today. I drove there in the rain, which started sounding a bit too sharp and then was definitely ice by the time I parked. I came out an hour later to a half-inch of snow on everything. Driving home was nerve-wracking, and it was impossible to get into my drivewa...
