Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

My heat went out some time yesterday. It was 65 f when I went to bed, this morning it is about 56 f after running a space heater in my bedroom all night. It was a low of 7 f and a high of 16 f outside. They're coming to fix it and no pipes burst, so not a post for shit days. But I'm still really cold.

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

https://i.imgur.com/A3BmkR7.jpg I took a chocolate making class last night! It helped demystify tempering chocolate. The instructor didn't even use a thermometer, just by look and touch. For decorating there was metallic shimmer dust, colored sugar, cocoa butter image transfers, and patterned plast...

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

We made the clarified milk punch! Using this recipe: http://www.cocktailchemistrylab.com/home/milk-punch I didn't take any pictures because it disappeared too fast, but we'll make more. The milk solids took a really long time to strain out, but it was pretty low-effort despite being time consuming. ...

Re: Weather

Yeah, we're supposed to get freezing rain, snow, and "wintry mix" all week too in Michigan. I'm not technically allowed to work from home but my boss said maybe I could anyway next time there's terrible weather, so I should work on sorting that out tonight.

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

I balked at paying $26 for shipping, so I got a couple friends to join in my chocolate order. Then a happy surprise when I was reminded that American dollars buy way more Canadian chocolate than it first appears! Also Pure bars are back in stock now.

Doin' it, ordering that swirl bar. And cacao shell tea?! Hells yes.

We have a few local chocolatiers so hopefully they catch on soon.

Re: Weather

This morning was the craziest freezing rain I've ever been out in. I stepped out my front door, thought "oh, it's icy." Stepped carefully down onto the sidewalk, and slid 10 feet. I took another step, and slid 10 or so more feet downhill. Stepped out into the street, slid another 10 feet. ...

Re: Weather

Michigan has also dropped into mild negative degrees F, though tomorrow's supposed to be 40 and raining. I don't know if this will get rid of the snow or just form a sheet of ice. Tangentially, I think it's time I broke down and bought a manufactured winter coat, something rated to at least -15F. I ...

Re: A take so hot I think I got singed reading it.

But if this gets people to take a good long look at the TSA and realize that pretty much everything they're doing is unnecessary and we don't need them, then that would be a positive outcome. Again, I'd be sympathetic to all the people having to look for new jobs -- but we've known for ages that th...

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY

Getting an MRI wasn't actually that objectively bad. But I tensed up so hard that the entirety of my legs and arms "fell asleep" in that no-circulation way, took almost 10 minutes afterward to be able to use my hands. It's an unpleasant sensation to feel your entire body losing circulation...
