Re: Hottest PS2 Game (Round of 12)

P3 gets a lot of points in my book for upending two RPG conventions: making the primary plot progression through time instead of through unlocking new territory, and for having a party that really doesn't like each other that much.* Indirect combat control of the other characters was plot-consistent...

I'd never heard of this one before. Sounds like a good reason for some hands-on research.

You're leaving out the most important part: the entire console is shaped like a giant Capcom logo.

Re: Weather

At least there's more snow coming down now, so the ice sheets will temporarily be covered by a higher-traction layer of compressed snow. My workplace already sent out a closure alert for tomorrow, and technically I don't have to go in, but realistically some people still need to keep an eye on thing...

Re: I'm Driving! I'm a Driver!

My trusty but 26 -year-old car has more repairs reasonably due in the next 1-2 years than it's worth, so I'm grumpily starting to look at replacements myself. I do take transit to work, but still need a car often enough that I can't eliminate it quite yet. One option I'm exploring is ex-rental cars,...

Re: Sports?! But I'm a nerd!

Wealthy team owners threatening to leave their cities unless given a publically-funded new stadium is an old tune. But still, this one tickled me:

Yes, go ahead, please move a team called the SUNS to Seattle. Do it.

Re: Words that make you want to choke or at least slap the poster

I think we all know how much faith to put on a $99 polygraph in untrained hands.

Which is to say: way to go, Stephanie, for identifying and seizing a way to escape from this person forever. If you were actually the poster, that's just icing on the cake.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

My worry here is that a lot of current birthright citizenship law interpretation rests on the Wong Kim Ark Supreme Court case, and with the current SC bench, who's to say they couldn't start carving out exceptions for any scenario that doesn't exactly match that precedent? Legislators have been atta...

Re: A Brief History of Brontoforumus

I believe the subtitle is just because a lot of restarted threads from the previous boards got slightly new names. The old thread was Outer Heaven Strikes Again and I had to go look that up to remember it, because it's just Outer Heaven and always has been, and that thread is only called that to dis...

Re: A Brief History of Brontoforumus

Heck, I've found it unappealing in communities where I was around in the Olden Tyme. But I think we're not too bad about it these days, at least on a relative scale; it might even have helped that the boards were reset in '14, so we're not still posting on page 523 of a thread where every poster on ...

A claim, it should be noted, that both Apple and Amazon deny in substantial detail, not at all the "we're not talking about it" sort of response you might expect if they were tangled up in gag orders.
