In the video for Bruce Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark, the girl who comes on stage at the end when he yell "Hey, baby!" is Courtney Cox.

... Actually I haven't yet! (Sorry Thad)

I was watching it because of some article talked about her dancing being one of the origins of the Carlton dance from Fresh Prince (along with the "white guy dance" from Eddie Murphy's RAW).

For Batman: The Animated Series, the showrunners decided to abstain from directly showing the Wayne murders, and for the most part, they stuck with it. No episode depicted that fateful night in Crime Alley, and, aside from Mask of the Phantasm, none depicted Batman's origins, either. Except...

In the New Batman/Superman Adventures intro, there's a bit right before the appearance of the Bat logo, where you can see three figures:

It's pretty much a direct lift of the infamous pose on the cover of Batman: Year One: Part one:

Talking Time has a similar thread to this one, and the first several pages were people reacting to that mind-blowing revelation.

I've read that the reason they called him "Tails" in the US release was precisely because nobody got the pun. (It isn't obvious if you don't say it out loud.)

Seems to have been a fairly last-minute change, as all the scenery in Sonic 2 that has both characters' names on it (eg in Casino Night) still says "Miles".

Not sure why Japanese people would be any more likely to get a pun that relied on both a foreign language and measurement system.

Maltz (the "I. Do not. Deserve. To live." Klingon who was apparently going for a Shatner-off in Star Trek III) was played by John Laroquette.

I wasn't even watching Star Trek III. I think it only dinged on account of he was in something else recently and old John Laroquette is finally wrinkly enough to resemble young John Laroquette under fifteen pounds of Klingon makeup.

I just discovered that Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy did a parody of God Emperor of Dune. Fucking seriously. I never watched the show but now I kind of feel like I should have? I mean, that's up there with Pinky & The Brain doing The Third Man on the list of shit kids weren't going to get. I was too busy doing adult stuff, like writing webpages about even older, stupider cartoons.

Anyway, Billy is ghola #2187. Coincidence, or time travel reference to FN-2187 in Force Awakens? I mean, Mandy does see the future in this one, which is also basically the God Emperor's whole thing.

Meanwhile, the opposite of cinnamon is salt, and she's a slug. She saw the golden path laid out for humanity, and it was made of frogs.

Peter Puppy does the "fear is the mind-killer" speech on a pretty regular basis in the Earthworm Jim cartoon, too.

That's one of the few things about that cartoon I remember, because I actually got that reference when it was originally broadcast so that was a real "Hey, what?! Oh cool! Haha!" moment at the time.

I'm a huge philistine, so I didn't realize it was from Dune until years afterward.

I read that in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Rufus never actually states his name. I will need to rewatch the movie to confirm.

Yesterday I realized - after like 15 years or more of not making this connection - that the "Skullz Everywhere!!!!1" aesthetic of Warhammer 40k is based on the fact that a skull is actually a votive image of The Emperor.

I feel The Dumbs.
