Pets!
Re: Pets!
Dog had a health scare a few weeks ago. She's okay now but was throwing up for 2-3 days; eventually we got concerned enough that we took her to the doggy ER on a Sunday night and had her stay there overnight with an IV in her to the tune of $1100.
Having just gotten a check reimbursing about $800 of that bill, I can now confidently recommend 24 Pet Watch for pet medical insurance.
I always assume -- somewhat justifiably -- that any relationship with any insurance company is going to be adversarial. That hasn't been my experience with this company, even on large bills. Vet fills out form and faxes it in, we get a check a month or two later covering around 80% of it. It's been a huge relief, and helps immensely with our peace of mind -- Art's had some real ups and downs (she's young, a shelter dog, and a white pit bull, which means a below-average immune system) and it's nice to have that kind of safety net in an emergency.
I mean, $300 is still a tough day. But it beats the hell out of $1100.

As I was taking my socks off, one of them landed on him, and he just walked around like this for a while:

Re: Pets!
I'm staying at a friend's apartment while she's away, and caring for her cat in exchange for the lodging.
The fucking cat is the most annoying animal ever created by nature. every fucking half hour it will start clawing at the bedroom door FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT. If I leave the door open, it'll either sit on my pillow, or on my head.
I succeeded in opening the door by surprise and spraying the thing's face with the water bottle. Now every half hour it claws at the bedroom door twice then runs away.

Re: Pets!
While my face may at times belong on a cat, a cat does not belong on my face.
