A handy thing to have hanging in any kitchen.

It is true that I'd eat human before elephant, though.

Because the only time I ate Filipino food it was greasy and bland?

If it's was bland, it wasn't decent Filipino. If you mean the little spot over on Pape, that place may be run by Filipinos, but the food is trash by any standard.

Greasy, well yeah. They go in for deep-frying everything even more than the Scots do.

Given it's the only thing I don't recognise, I assume the coconut vinegar is the key sausage ingredient here?

Yeah, that's part of it. It's a good balance between the ingredients too.

It's the end of strawberry season in Michigan, I'm going to try making pavlova for a tea party this Sunday!

Dear wife just found out the dammsugare marzipan treats from Ikea have palm oil in them, which I guess means we're not going to be buying those anymore.* I guess that also means I'm going to have to learn to make them myself. Which means I'll have to find someplace that sells punsch.

*palm oil itself is fine, but I guess the cultivation practices are terrible, namely slash-and-burn in some of the last orangutan habitats left on Earth. And it's hard to avoid the stuff; I guess one of palm oil's best qualities is how it stays semisolid at room temperature, it's in damn near everything.

Slash-and-burn in some of the last _______ habitats left on Earth. You can fill in the blank with a whole damn lot of endangered and just-about-endangered species.

And yes, palm oil is one of the few saturated fats that come from a plant, so it's solid at room temp. You can put it into things that are going to sit on a shelf for a month so they're still soft and pliable and don't taste as stale as they actually are.
