So about the same time we were arguing over how, what, where and when criticism to medievalPoC should be made, they were also engaged in a discussion that not only produced a reiteration of what I was trying to argue, but a good feels post about how the author learned something through the course of the discussion. Which I have taken to mean that this is a good entering point for people who're interested in reading a transcription of an unusually open academic forum.

Also, there's a set of anecdotes that illustrate how very easy it is to let our biases blind us.

Obviously, like most things even quasi-academic, there's a lot of temptation to tl;dr. So, reader beware! You may have to read something closely for several minutes!
