1k seems damn cheap at the price. A penny of prevention and all that.

TBH that sounds like a pretty reasonable rate for skilled work like that - how long did it take? I would guess at least a full work day?

May and June have been weirdly mild, for Phoenix-in-May-and-June values of mild. Surprisingly few days above 100, and I believe tomorrow's the first day forecast to hit 110.

Not that there haven't been weird weather events -- I've never seen this many grasshoppers, and there was a mulch fire in Mesa that burned for a week or so and was hell on my asthma -- and I'm concerned by the forecasts of an especially dry monsoon season. But at least it hasn't been as fuck-you hot as usual, and I'll take what I can get.

Apart from all the other shit involved in replacing our AC, we're finding out that our house has some weird-ass circulation. The difference between 75 and 76 on the thermostat can be the difference between 71 and 80 in the master bedroom.

Foggy this morning.

I've lived around here for 40 years and never seen anything like it. This is about the closest you're going to get to a white Christmas in these parts.

This is the coldest it's been in years.

Which isn't that cold, but if I were going out at night I'd probably be digging through my closet trying to find my long underwear. Cold enough that I have to cover the plants outside at night so they don't freeze.

Should be good for the citrus. Oranges taste sweeter after a freeze. Used to happen every winter, but it's a lot less frequent now than it used to be.

I thought I was supposed to be the old one, not Thad.

Does this mean that if we argue it's like the two guys in the rest home flinging applesauce at each other because neither can remember why they have onions on their belts?

(staggers in from walking the dog, bundled up to endure the savage SoCal January weather)

Hey y'all, I just saw some frost on the grass. Is that something that used to happen much? Because I sure don't- (narrowly dodges a cup of applesauce and an onion) -nevermind, I'll leave you to it.

Remember when it used to get cold in the winter and there wasn't a looming water crisis? Pepperidge Farm etc.
