WEATHER II: Hell on Earth
Re: Weather
Welp, 100 degrees out (with a forecast high of 105) and my AC's out. Temperature in the house is up to 83 and climbing. And it's Sunday, so we may or may not be able to find a replacement motor today.
Guess I'll probably have to find somewhere else to hang out today.

Re: Weather
It's 75 degrees outside, after a storm just passed through. I left my friend's apartment in dry weather - it started raining all the way up to a fairly torrential downpour in the middle (someone in a convertible BMW had to pull over to put the top up - I was very amused) - and then it was just sprinkling when I got back to my apartment.
Re: Weather
I got power back after only 47 hours!

Re: Weather
feels like this monsoon season is trying to make up for previous years.
Re: Weather
Kinda. I can't find exact comparisons offhand but last year was one of the wettest monsoon seasons on record, though most of that was down to a couple of really big storms. I think this year we're getting less rain spread across a lot more days.
Re: Weather
The hot season is lasting longer and longer each year.
It's 98 out right now, with a high of 104, and the forecast calls for the 100+-degree days to continue into October -- not that you can trust a weather forecast more than a few days out, but it's certainly possible.

Re: Weather
Is it though? I mean, it very well may be for you. Out here though it's just shifting. Still being AC weather in October is weird here, but snow on the ground in May was weirder.
Re: Weather
Southwest Weather says September 28 is actually the average, while the latest on record is October 23.
So yeah, too early to say this is any later than usual.
HOWEVER, it also says this:
So we're definitely getting more hot days per year than we used to.
We passed 100 days on Thursday (meaning today makes 102). So actually if we don't have 8 more days over 100, we'll be below the thirty-five-year average.

Average annual number of days with maximum temperatures of 100°F or higher 1896-2010: 92

Re: Weather
I saw some temperature charts break 100 last week, but apparently the official one was just shy.
