WEATHER II: Hell on Earth

Postby Smiler » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:39 am

It's snowed barely an inch for three days in a row now. I've pretty much given up on shoveling it. It's not even worth it. Fuck the snow.

There's a wind chill warning of -35 today. Right now the wind chill is -28.

At least it's not snowing...

It's cold as hell for the rest of the week. The good news is that there's no snow today. Tomorrow though, another fucking inch of snow.

Our corporation just sent out a travel advisory, normally reserved for earthquakes and riots, for the amount of snow that the northeast is getting.

81 today.

Which sounds good if you don't realize just how fucking terrible our air quality is. My asthma is the worst it's been in months; it's pretty hard to get excited about the nice weather when I can't go outside for five minutes without a coughing jag.

It continues to be slightly warm for this time of year. We got all our infinite freezing hell in January last year, I guess.

Huh. Last night I was talking to a dude I know on the panhandle and he said they were getting freezing rain?

Scandalous lies?

It's just above freezing, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected tonight, along with a temperature drop to freeze it all. According to the local news, at least.

Floridians tend to overestimate how cold it actually is.

Earlier this month, I was briefly in Miami for work. On the way out of the building on the coldest day I was there, I passed two women commiserating about how ohmiGOD it is FREEZING out here

It was about 60F/16C with a light wind.

It was 16 out today. I went out with a hoodie on. So much warmer than the -5 and -40 wind chill.
