I wish I was back in BC. The weather out there is mild and pleasant most of the year. Here, it's like living in a sweaty sock.

So I'm spending the next two days in a train cabin...

Only you're forgetting we had BC-like weather all summer >:3

Granted that was an anomaly and usually it's always humid here, no matter if it's summer or winter. Makes things miserable either way.

Chicago has, for several days that I've been outside, smelled like Miami.
It is reverting to a swamp.

Hottest day of the year so far, though the temp is technically only 26. The 80% Humidity is making it feel like it's over 40 though. UGH. Great weather to kill you.

Bizarrely, we haven't had a day over 30 all year. Which makes this by far the coolest year overall in the postwar era, maybe the past century.

In spite of today's shitty weather I actually wish it could be like this every year because holy shit the weather since spring has felt like we live on the pacific northwest.

Except I was actually in the Pacific Northwest the last two weeks and the weather was mild and pleasant compared to this humid car exhaust weather we're having.

I hate the humidity and have visited the pacific northwest many times and I actually have no clue what you're talking about. There have been individually crappy days but this summer has been, as you say, mild and pleasant. Far more so than a typical Toronto summer.

Got some rain yesterday and it's cooler than forecast; down to 100. Supposed to drop more in the coming days.

I expect we'll get a few more triple-digit days this year, but we're almost done.

What did you do?

I missed the E-Mail about working from home today, so I am the only person in the room right now.

Kinda nice, actually, but if I'd known I could be at home with my dog right now I would have preferred that.

Maybe I'll see if I can get permission to head home on lunch and work the last half of the day from home.

Haven't installed Skype on my home computer since reinstalling the OS, though. IIRC it's pretty painless to get it working under OpenSUSE, but still more work than most other packages.

"Forgotten what the monsoon is like" implies that we've had weather like this before.

We haven't. Not in recorded history. Today's storm more than doubled the previous record for single-day rainfall. This is state of emergency shit.

My neck of the woods didn't get it so bad -- like I said, I managed to make it into work with no incident. But this thing was fucking crazy.

Which is weird because I remember some pretty bad storms from back in the day, and this didn't really seem that much worse in comparison, but I hear that some areas got hit twice as bad as others, so whatever.

Aaaaand now it's 11 degrees.

For you non-Celsians, that's sweater-and-jacket weather.

Exactly. Long pants, maybe a light cotton jacket if I'm going to be outside for a while.

Oh, I forgot the wind chill. It felt more like 8 degrees.

As much as I want to compete in this game of e-burlyhairs and other means of resisting exposure to lower-than-ideal temperatures:
1) It's hella stupid.
2) I'm wearing my jammie pants around the house again because ffff. I'm old.
