There's a sort of fun in having some bit of hardware break in a way which would have been completely fatal, if not for the trivially easy fix (in this case drilling a single hole and inserting one screw) someone posted online, like, sixteen years ago.

Earlier today, I actually liked how I looked in the mirror. Enough to take a picture!
But the picture didn't capture the thing I liked, and I accidentally destroyed the effect by running my fingers through my beard, and now it will never happen again!

Our A/C stopped working sometime last night. The only silver lining is that it happened in our first week of 80-degree weather rather than during the 100+ streak of over two months this summer.

We were at the bank forwarding some Christmas monies to folks and as we were leaving, a short lady walking in turned to us and said "Hey you guys want to see something cute!" and before we could have the chance to be confused she unzipped her rather large purse/tote and a lil green-eyed yellow-tone tabby poked their face out and d'awwww.

I'm not sure I've ever been so randomly yet perfectly targeted before. SHOW ME ALL THE KITTIES AND DOGGOS, YES.

As an early Christmas present, kiddo and I both got that cold that's been going around lately.

I was taking the bus home and a little kid in a corner seat tilted his head skyward and just blurted out a big AWOOOOOO. After getting scolded by him mom he stopped... for a few seconds, before continuing quietly.

I had my mask on so all you could really see were my smiling eyes, but I'm sure I didn't help by looking at the kid and similarly tilting my head upwards in "reply" each time he awoooo'd.

I'd like to know who decided the best way to change the headlight for a 2008 Honda Fit was to go through a cramped little hole peeled open in the wheel well lining. I thought we learned our lesson with the Dodge Intrepid, but I guess time is a nightmare and nothing is ever learned.

it is pretty unpleasant

I don't know precisely how, but as far as I'm aware I've managed to never get Covid. Probably helped by the fact that I'm antisocial, don't go out in public often, and I've been masked most of the time that I do go out.
