Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY
Yesterday, referring to my t-shirt, my personal trainer asked me "What's Gen Con?" After explaining it's a large gaming con, and no I mean tabletop gaming not video gaming, he asked, "So what, like giant Monopoly?"
He then tried to tell me that non-electronic gaming was probably dying out.

Yeesh. Mongrel, atog and I have a toilet that leaks every time you flush it.
Hey at least it flushes. Which is an improvement over "no leaking, but also nothing goes down unless you jackhammer + bucket brigade it"
But yeah it is worrisome, because while we can catch the leak in a container now, it has started leaking from another point more forward as well and there's just no catching it all.
But hey, on a list of things in our bathroom that need fixed, perhaps it is best to let the list toppers fight to the death before calling the superintendent. In this corner, weighing enough to cause the wall behind the shower tiling to sag and gape, the Thallid Thooter. In the other corner, Leaky McToilet.
Placeholder for something witty that doesn't make me sound like an asshole

Not to mention the continually disintegrating no-man's land of the kitchen "floor".
Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY
I have done simple things along these lines, with which I am pleased. After the long week-end the loft now has proper lighting and power sockets, the freezer is attached to the wall 20cm away instead of a series of sparking Half-Life extension cords, the Thing Under the Shower has been exorcised with prejudice, and the smoking room is fitted with a nuclear jet turbine extractor fan triggered via mad science laboratory knife switch. (It's noticeably harder to open the door when this beast is running.)

Had to go to the doctor to get earwax flushed out. So that was fun.
Worth it, though; my hearing is much better.

Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY
I had to go do that a few months ago. I didn't even know there was a problem until I basically went temporarily deaf in one ear, so it was nice to know the fix only took like two minutes of sticking a tiny super vacuum into my head.

I got caught waiting behind a train on my walk to the bus stop this morning. The conductor waved cheerfully at me. When I'm waiting behind slow-moving cargo trains, I never think maybe there's someone on there having a good time.

I saw a man drinking a coconut on the subway on my way home.

Some local nut has been putting up MOON LANDING WAS A HOAX (HUMANS) HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE MOON! posters up all over our neighbourhood. :D
Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY
It's not just in our neighborhood, either. I've seen them as far as Spadina and College.

Just FYI for the non-Twitter users here:
They might need a hand.
Mothra, you still got any connections with publishers/publishing work or is that all way out of date?

I was at the Detroit Institute of Art with about 20 other lolitas yesterday. This is critical mass of lolita, where some sorts of people just cannot cope until you explain to them what is happening.
This one older gentleman found five of us sitting on a bench and started off with the classic "I have to ask..." After we explained in as little detail as possible about Japanese fashion, he told us an anecdote about being in a restaurant one time and seeing a lot of people dressed up like animals filing into a private dining room. Poor guy, just trying so hard to understand the world around him.

Today it is some sort of tiny ungulate. Possibly a pudu, or a baby antelope. I thought it was a puppy at first.
Today it is a baby tiger.
Re: HOW WAS YOUR DAY
Now the tiger is gone and they're cooking something and I gotta tell you, that's a little concerning.

Yesterday in downtown Detroit I saw an... interesting billboard. I texted the number on it and got a quick response.

Based on their website I'm assuming ten million companies now own your phone number. That or they're millionaire pranksters who can't afford a web designer.

Earlier this afternoon, some dude in our building was blasting Smooth Operator from their balcony and this amused me unduly.

Car repairs are $1000, rather than "you might as well buy a new car". So that's okay.
