Thanks all, I have survived 500 miles in a stupid tiny town car with cat and dog losing their damn minds plus an unintended week of tearing down our crap at the old place. Am now fully installed as a political refugee in the kind of village where everyone's first concern is making sure you've eaten. Didn't realise how much I'd missed sea air, I will Have to Build a Boat (tm).

Also nature!

Will work on improving my accent, but I'm starting from a London/Westcountry/Cymru mix so it could be a disaster.

The closer human beings become like grandmas the more correct their society and culture is

Also, nice view. Enjoy your sea air! I love that smell.

...how did it take me six hours to notice the DOOMSKULL in the corner?

I mean, it's probably just yelling about how you're skinny as a rail and your parents aren't feeding you enough and what are we going to do with you kids, but DOOMSKULL

Tansy is a week ahead of me on integration into local culture and refers to this as being inducted into the Henarchy.

This afternoon, I bought a couple bottles of fancy root beer.

First one I opened had "Prepare for zombies" printed on the inside of the cap.

I was visiting one of the wargaming minis sites I go to from time to time, and the "recent posts" column had clipped a slightly misspelled thread title perfectly enough that I ended up laughing at "11th Century Welsh Wario..."

YouTube's #1 recommendation for me right now is "Water Tower Collapse Compillation".

(AFAIK, I have not been watching anything that could even remotely trend to this, but YouTube knows best, right?)

That moment when your friend semi-embarrassedly reveals that he was the national champion of the game he's been trying to get you to play for weeks.

An old Steve Jackson classic, Car Wars.

I did manage to win the first game though a huge amount of luck and a very, very silly match. We were using very small, cheap cars since it was a starter game, and our weapons both failed to do any real damage to each other. I ended up immobilizing his car with spikes and then rammed his car at slow speed to pin his driver (who'd gotten out to shoot a cheap light rocket launcher he'd brought in as a secret weapon), between his wreck and the wall of the arena.

Washington has a huge problem with fraudulent unemployment claims at the moment, which I discovered this morning includes an account opened under my name and SSN. At least I'm actually employed right now, or cleaning that up would be much more of a problem.

I love that it's a Nigerian fraud ring and not anyone local.

We caught some tadpoles and toads the other day. And I guess my wife can only pay so much attention to a patient's diarrhea patterns...

There's a children's book series about an imperturbable blue cat. My daughter can't quite enunciate his name, so when she says "Pete the Cat" it comes out "pisa catt".

I figured you guys would want to know.

Pete the Cat!!!

Those books rock, by the most important barometer there is: Can you read this book to a kid hundreds of times and not want to tear your hair out?

Mo Willems' stuff is great too.

Understanding that wanting to hear the same stories over and over and over and over is a part of development makes it a little easier.

...a little.

I was looking through my Steam screenshots trying to find something from last week, and tripped over this.
