Obituaries
Re: Obituaries
If you haven't had a chance to read Finding Batman from this year's DC Pride, it's worth tracking down.
Here are the last two pages (art by J Bone).

Re: Obituaries
Leaving aside, for the moment, the extremely problematic nature of its subject, I'm definitely feeling this strip a little bit today.

Re: Obituaries
It's hard to overstate how much of an impact his Batman had. While Batman had already been part of the milieu thanks to the '66 series - and Burton's '89 made him more adult and really put him in the cultural spotlight - TAS was the series that defined Batman for a generation.
To me it what took Batman from being just an icon but a character in stories. It was my first introduction to how deep and extensive his rogue's gallery was, and even helped define a lot of the character and his world for the following decades
At its core was Conroy's perfect casting as Batman. That stone cold growl that perfectly captures the essence of the caped crusader. He even has the appropriate softness to Batman when necessary, someone who cares deeply about the people around him and even prioritizes helping others above just crime fighting.

He was the kind of Bruce Wayne who would volunteer at a soup kitchen, or speak on Harley Quinn's behalf at her parole hearing.
He had layers. Conroy said he played him as Hamlet.
