A sad day for all newswatching Canadians over the age of 20.

I'm just glad he didn't live to see the dismantling of CBC.

I'm not sure if anyone else here recognizes the name, but Rik Mayall just died suddenly.

Kasem had an excellent run. There is no sorrow in his moving on.

No indeed, it's a relief. The guy was in poor health and his family was fighting over him. No way to live; glad his suffering is over.

Eli Wallach, age 98.

He was in a shitload of movies but you probably know him as "the Ugly" from The Good, the Bad, and.

Nooooo. :(

The greatest character of the greatest western of them all.

(Sorry Arc, whereever you are, I still choose the Good The Bad & The Ugly over Once Upon A Time In The West, albeit by a rather small margin).

Bob Hastings, who our generation probably knows best as Commissioner Gordon on Batman: TAS.

Damn he was good. Like most everybody from that cartoon, he's my definitive version of the character, the voice I hear in my head when I read the comics.

And for everything I love about that show (and there are a fuck of a lot of things I love about that show), the relationship between Batman and Gordon may be my single favorite thing.

Tommy Ramone, last of the original Ramones

Geez, that's a terrible survival rate. The Ramones' heyday may be longer ago than we might like to admit, but it wasn't THAT long ago.
