Holy shitting shit-shit.
I had to look into what comments Trump was referencing for canceling the summit. Turns out it's somehow even stupider than I expected.
Here's the story, recited poorly in mostly chronological order:
North Korea has made it a point in the past that they fear nuclear disarmament because they think they'll end up like Libya or Iran. Gaddafi's name has come up in reference enough that I was aware of it, and I don't watch real news anymore, only comedy news.
North Korea proposes the summit.
Pence goes on T.V. and says that Kim Jong-Un could end up like Gaddafi.
North Korean statement is that the options are to meet in a meeting room, or in nuclear showdown
Trump cancels the summit.
I really can't explain this line of reasoning as anything other than they found a missing page from Book of Revelation and are doing their best to follow it.

Don't forget the bit where Trump ALSO threatened Kim Jong-Un!
That said, last week I was reading a lot of good analysis about North Korea's sort of belligerent posturing to set expectations that they were not going to give up nuclear weapons, or much of anything really. Importantly, this behaviour predates last week's threats and has been a pattern for a very long time.
Now, the Trump administration is obviously composed of nutcases and idiots desperate to go to war, and who seem to enjoy making threats which are both self-destructive and insane. But in theory, an actual cancellation as a one-up response to Kim Jong-Un's threat to cancel the summit - if made by a theoretical non-insane administration, one which hadn't been dangling assassination over the whole meeting, and which didn't have intentions of starting a nuclear war - could in theory be have been a good countermove, to show the US will not come to the table without real concessions. North Korea wants money and to be left alone, and the US could get those things, but they should get something in return for that and an agreement where North Korea concedes nothing of any relevance really would be pointless.
Of course this administration is fucking nuts, so this is the product of incredible stupidly and not actual tactical cleverness.

Always looking to remind us that they are not on our side and never were, Democratic senators are moving to block the withdrawal of US troops from South Korea. Because it's Trump doing it. And the only time they'll ever stand up to him is when he's accidentally doing something good.

Re: War. War never changes. (Except when it does)
I mean, the South Korean president has literally begged the US to maintain their troops in South Korea and in May released multiple statements to that effect. I don't think that the US should be wild and out and all over the place with their military but whenever I see someone being like, "We need to reduce the military size by 80%" a TON of the time they don't realize that other governments legit PAY US to be a Military Presence in their country. There are almost as many US troops in Australia as there are Aus troops. We have contracts and alliances that state that we will protect multiple countries and give them years warning before we withdraw so they can properly arm up. It's one of the ways other countries spend less on the Military than the US does.

That isn't even a war anymore. It's two sides just taunting each other like a Monty Python and the Holy Grail bit with neither having a real interest in actually fighting. Pretty sure no soldiers are in any real danger there. Perhaps you should be directing your anger at something more worthwhile?

The Emoji Movie showed up on my Netflix homepage under "Imaginative Movies" the other day.
Which was kind of like how Blockbuster used to shelve 2001 in the "Action" section.

I've been hemming and hawing about posting this for over a day, but while I don't recommend it, I figure you can decide for yourselves if you want to watch or not. Note that this happened eight years ago but the video's been circulating again recent in tweets without context such as this in the wake of Corbyn's wreath incident.
if you don't want to watch, the tl;dr is that a Palestinian doctor's house was shelled literally minutes before he was slated to appear as a caller on a news program (Dr. Aish has travelled globally to speak since then. He was in Toronto a couple years ago).

Microwave weapons are increasingly thought to be the culprit behind the attacks against US Embassies in Cuba and China
“Everybody was relatively skeptical at first,” he said, "and everyone now agrees there’s something there.” Dr. Smith remarked that the diplomats and doctors jokingly refer to the trauma as the immaculate concussion.

Looks like things just got hot again in the Ukraine:
There was also one last tweet which was just deleted, which claimed "Reports coming in from Donbas of intense artillery shelling by Ukrainian military in Donetsk, Lugansk regions."
EDIT:
Okay, so we can downgrade this to "Might be about to get hot."

I guess this is what happens when the cold cyber-war assets start getting uncovered en masse. Well at least we can all stop pretending now.

Also, it's a nearly irrelevant point, but what's going on in with everyone' skin (or the lighting) in that last photo. It looks likes both Pence and Guaidó are suffering from vitiligo.
