Try not to take too seriously the claim that someone with lots of crypto is rich

I didn't think there were more than 20 billion NFTs in existence yet, so how could $200M worth of Bitcoins have been stolen?

All that money could have gotten into the hands of hardworking furry artists

Thought I'd linked this already, but I don't see it in this thread. So maybe I posted it somewhere else, or maybe I didn't, but anyway, this is a good longread on why all this "NFTs in games" talk is bullshit:
look what you made me do: a lot of people have asked me to make NFT games and I won’t because i’m not a fucking dumbass. now let me tell you why only a dumbass would get into NFT games.
There aren't really any surprises in there for anybody with even a vague understanding of how game development works, but it's thorough and it's laid-out well.

I'm unemployed and still too busy to scroll more than halfway down all that, but I'm pretty sure you only need this one line:
We already saw this with Blizzard’s real money auction house.

That's definitely enough in itself, but there are so many other layers of wrong in the NFT gaming arguments. The idea that NFTs will allow you to buy an item in one game and then use it in other games is so blinkered on so many levels that it's hard to know where to start.
And of course there's the nontrivial point that telling your customers you want to invest in the technology that is preventing them from buying a new graphics card is perhaps not the best public relations strategy.
