Jernalism!
Re: Jernalism!
Oh, okay. I can forgive you this time, because I forgot how insane gun culture is to people who aren't American.
Yeah, I saw that and went "well of course that's real. This is America."

Re: Jernalism!
Also honestly no more insane or impractical than putting anything more than 2 or MAYBE 4 times optics on a rifle without proper windage and bullet drop training. Most people dont realize those skills take months to train and must constantly be worked on. People just want the big bullshit thing on their gun but if you're shooting at a distance large enough to warrent 4 or more times magnification you need that skill. And if you're not youre just being a dumbass. Honestly at that distance just being still enough to take the shot takes some education and repetition.

Re: Jernalism!
To expand on the previous, you have to understand how this feels.
Those of us outside the bubble of madness continually receive stories like "They're ruled by an immortal emperor, neither living nor dead, who has sat on his golden throne for 10,000 years, kept alive only by ghastly technological interventions and the daily sacrifice of thousands of lives. The Empire's rule is one of cultural and technological stagnation defined by tyranny, superstition and religious obfuscation and intolerance."
When the rest of the world laughs, haha good joke The Onion, roll on snare drum. Americans look at us like we're stupid and and show us this.
Only it's an actual photo, maybe with some capitol hill reporters milling around while Betsy DeVos and Jared Kushner are chanting some kind of strange incantation and throwing golden glitter in the air.

I certainly thought the chainsaw was a ridiculous made-up joke when I saw it.

Yeah I think "be clearer" is good general criticism (maybe use a spoiler tag if you're worried about giving away a punchline) but in this case I did know it when I saw it.

It's almost fascinating the way that you imagine that Fox can't possibly become more of a pure propaganda mouthpiece for Trump, and then they go and top themselves every time.
In completely unrelated news, I'm pretty happy about the chocolate ration increase.

I could tell that that's what Mongrel thought was a joke, but it being USA Today, and gun culture being an absurd mess full of idiots, I didn't assume they were throwing a ridiculous made-up joke in the middle of a serious video. Because that's exactly the sort of attachment that would exist and sell to people, and only the briefest googling turned up a manufacturer for it.

I didn't think it was inserted as a deliberate joke, I just thought they'd been hoodwinked by some alarmist source. USA Today is not exactly known for being a bastion of fine journalism.
It just turns out that the one who didn't do any fact-checking was me rather than USA today.

WaPo: I'm shocked, shocked.
Major media outlets routinely present a distorted picture of black families — portraying them as dependent and dysfunctional — while white families are more likely to be depicted as sources of social stability, according to the report released Wednesday by the racial justice organization Color of Change.
...
Black families represent 59 percent of the poor portrayed in the media, according to the analysis, but account for just 27 percent of Americans in poverty. Whites families make up 17 percent of the poor depicted in news media, but make up 66 percent of the American poor.
Black people are also nearly three times more likely than whites to be portrayed as dependent on welfare, the study showed. Black fathers were shown spending time with their kids almost half as often as white fathers.
Blacks represent 37 percent of criminals shown in the news, but constitute 26 percent of those arrested on criminal charges, the study said. In contrast, news media portray whites as criminals 28 percent of the time, when FBI crime reports show they make up 77 percent of crime suspects.

I'm trying to enjoy my schadenfreude, but I have a horrible feeling he's going to start a new site, get Milo onboard, and we're going to have a fucking website made up of people who've been fired by Breitbart.
