Official fatalities up to 29, matching the deadliest. With over 200 persons still missing, there's now basically no way the Camp Fire isn't both the most destructive and deadliest fire in modern California history.

Which I'm sure will not be a record it holds for long.

"Let's look at the fire map... yup, still terrib- wait, there's literally a place north of Paradise called Helltown? I'm gonna slip under my desk and hold my head for a few minutes."

Also, how long until Google adopts a fire line overlay for its maps? Like, alongside the usual traffic overlays?

Best pancakes and bacon in town.

They're calling in body recovery specialists as well as corpse sniffing dogs, and shipping over a bunch of DNA machines to expedite the identification process.

Over 40 confirmed dead, still hundreds missing. I don't want to guess at the final count, but I really hope it doesn't go into the triple digits.

The people in Chico have been great. Everyone is helping out. I walked a bunch of dogs today.

Paradise is (was) a predominantly low income, white, republican, and very religious community. Every time I see a youtube comment about how the libtards are getting punished by god for electing a democratic governor (or whatever), I die a little inside.

Some years back, some character (I forget when or who, but it hardly matters) said a particularly devastating tornado in the central plains was punishment for gay marriage. Never mind that most of those dastardly homosexuals live on the snooty coasts.

Man, even though you (and we) were all but certain that that was going to be the outcome (95% means 95%), it's still a last kick at you when you're down to have it confirmed.

I do hope the young fedora atheists that swung alt right because liberals are irrational are comfortable with their new allies.

Old-Testament God getting pissed because group A did something and turning His divine wrath onto group B isn't unusual.

I guarantee this is a more thorough understanding of the Old Testament than these people possess.

They keep arresting looters, including two guys who sneaked in dressed as Forest Rangers.

I mean, I get it. You're an amoral shitstain and you know that there's an empty town full of loot.

Except, uh, the town actually isn't empty and is instead crawling with more law enforcement than a fucking donut shop having a 90% off sale. Good job.

The two guys disguised as Forest Rangers were actually cosplaying Link, but the local Sheriff's office is all old white guys who've never heard of Zelda, so they just assumed they were bad costumes.

Isn't anything worth looting burnt to a crisp? Or at the very least, moderately smoke-damaged?

I can't think of a better way to get shot in the head and have the most pacifist guy on Earth be all "Yup, kinda asked for that."

Or buried under a burnt house worth of rubble.

There's a handful of intact homes... I assume, they're after those? But that's even dumber, because you can imagine there's a field of burned wreckage and then there's this one house which is intact or just charred and all these shifty-looking (or even normal-looking) guys are running into it and then coming out with TVs or tablets or whatever. NOTHING SUSPICIOUS THERE, NO SIR.

so I've mentioned the Air Quality here in Chico a few times

fun fact I just found out: today, nov 16th 2018, Chico CA had the worst AQI on the planet

keep in mind this index tops out at 500 because basically it never goes over that (scroll down a bit)

It says '2'. So they essentially broke the meter and it's 502?

Also, you're wearing a mask or even a rage *anything* when you go out, I sure hope? Over the long term, I suspect CA is going to see a frightening increase of cases of lung cancer, emphysema, etc., if it hasn't already.

oh, uh. I guess it's a live updating site.

Anyway, at 1700, it was 548.

I have no idea why it's showing "2" now. It's still awful out.

<@Romosome> Trump is apparently in Chico. Not sure if Friday is out trying to train a mountain lion towards the university or anything
<Friday> yeah
<Friday> he showed up this morning
<Friday> I assume because someone told him that this is a Red area and his tweet actually pissed off a lot of people
<Friday> like, in a direct, they won't be voting for you anymore come 2020
<Friday> kind of way

EDIT: I feel obligated to clarify that by "this is a Red area" I didn't mean Chico itself. Chico is pretty liberal due to the college here and other factors.
