Well here's a fun one!
Talkin to friends in another Discord, and all this came up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gematria
essentially that's a Jewish system of assigning numbers to certain phrases.
http://www.gematrix.org/?word=746
idk but lots of fun stuff there.
Obama Damage Right Eye
Thy Kingdom Come
Suffered and Dies For God
Mother All Human Beings
The Lord is Present
Believe
746 King George St intersects Meir Shaham St in Jerusalem. Shaham means Granite and I live in NH, the granite state, lolol
but also I did the square root of 746, and it's 27.31
if you put in 27 N 31 E you end up here
wammo! like center-punch the Nile!\

PS page 746 in War and Peace is a conversation about a mother and son, which is where this started. one of my friend's moms looked this up first.

Medium: A Past That Never Existed, a Future That Will Never Arrive - Lessons from watching every single Hallmark holiday movie
"Hauntology" is a great word, though "Hauntstalgia" would be more accurate.
It is a cruelty of America that the nostalgia that reared us all is one that only ever truly applied to one demographic in one span of time; that every story we tell ourselves about the possibility of this country is one that ends with the home, family, community, and security depicted in these movies; and that, for a lot of people, this is the closest they’ll get.
"Hauntology" is a great word, though "Hauntstalgia" would be more accurate.

I've been saying for decades that Hallmark movies are literal propaganda.

I was looking through one of my old editorial cartoon collections from the 90's just this afternoon and it was scary how many of the cartoons were still 100% relevant.
Also, it was bizarre to see Aslin's original prototypical US gun violence cartoon (I can't find a copy online with a quick search, but it was basically a US flag with red-tinted rifles for the stripes and bullets for stars) in response to Columbine, with our latter-day knowledge of how many variations of those he would go on to make in the twenty years to come.
I want to say that realizing next year will be the twentieth anniversary of the modern era of angry young white guys carrying out spree shootings (obviously I know there were angry white guy spree shootings before Columbine) made me feel old, but honestly it just made me feel really, really tired.

I find this easier than either the trolley problem or the prisoner's dilemma.
Re: Freshman Philosophy Thread
Based on my proven behaviour in videogames, I hunt down and stealth kill everyone even tangentially involved in arranging this scenario, primarily to steal their hats.
Re: Freshman Philosophy Thread
I redirect the trolley to a track containing 1+2+3+4+5+6... people, which can be proven to only kill -1/12th.
