Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
I look at Sean Spicer and I see a mildly incompetent politician who's way in over his head. Bannon looks at Spicer and sees a 4. Maybe a 5 if he loses his job and grows some hair.

Karen Handel doesn't support a livable wage. Neither, apparently, does the Georgian people.
I need to make a reminder to stab my hope with a chopstick. Not to kill it, just to keep the fucking thing from standing up.

Protesters in wheelchairs are being arrested and dragged out of their wheelchairs.
Shame has no meaning for Republican scum anymore. I question if it ever did.

These guys must know how terrible this looks; if their whole hiding of the healthcare bill isn't proof of that, it sure looks like it.
Just... how did we even get here? What do these guys even believe in anymore?

I said as much. People who vote for Republicans LIKE that sort of thing.

...you know, saying "I told you so" is still obnoxious even if you use a thesaurus.

Still baffling, too.
Like, my older brother is a math professor and a number nerd; calculates prime numbers for the hell of it, and still wears that Pi shirt I got him many Christmases ago. An ostensibly smart guy, but man, can he be dumb a post sometimes. He and his wife were a couple Tea Party loons, and I'm not sure they changed. They barely have a pot to piss in, but don't think the rich should be taxed.
I get that a lot of those kinds of voters suffer from a bit of Dunning-Kruger type delusions. Like, "sure it's hard to be poor and working on minimum wage, but I'll never be that poor off because I'm better than that." I'm sure he thinks that, even though that was absolutely his case for a while. Not only that, but it'll be the case of his own teenage daughters. I forget who said it, but they say these folks can't see past their nose, and they only see trouble when they smash their aforementioned proboscis into it.
Again, baffling.

Rationalization is a helluva drug.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
There's probably not much to say about the Senate healthcare bill that hasn't already been discussed. The one obvious place where it's better than the House version is that it ties costs to income instead of age. The most obvious place where it's worse is that it puts even deeper cuts on Medicaid.
There are enough Republicans hemming and hawing about how they won't vote for it that it might not pass, but remember the House bill went down the first time too. Don't write it off as defeated until the Republicans lose their majority in at least one chamber.

They're delaying the vote until after the recess. This is a good start, but everything I said about not counting it out yet still holds.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Former Congressman with his own TV show and his co-host/wife write Washington Post editorial questioning President's mental health, because this is the world we live in now.
Also:
There was a lot of "the President killed irony" talk during the Bush Administration, but I think it may really be dead this time.

I'll be honest, the longer this goes on, the more I want to kill myself.

He's literally shitposting now.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
But remember, it was Obama who spoiled the dignity of the presidency by putting his feet on the Resolute Desk. Can't Twitter just make some kind of executive move to shut his account down? I mean, they can censor anything with a nipple, so why not this boob?

The Wall Street Journal has been publishing some new, more concrete details about alleged Trump campaign / Russia collusion; Jonathan Chait of NYMag has a summary. It's still early days and it could come out to nothing, but given that it's the WSJ we're talking about, I doubt they're piling on Trump just to please their audience, owner, advertisers, or editorial stance.

Ew.

CNN says we're up to 44 states refusing, at least in part, to comply with the White House's request for voter registration information. Not for nothin', that includes Pence and Kobach's home states (Indiana and Kansas, respectively).
(I'm not sure I quite follow their math; if Florida, Nebraska, Hawaii, and New Jersey haven't commented, and Colorado, Missouri, and Tennessee are complying, that adds up to 7 states that haven't refused the request, not 6. Though if they're taking Hawaii as a given, I can't say as I blame them.)
Gee, I dunno, Mr. President, but of the 43 states that are refusing to cooperate, 26 voted for you.
As of Tuesday afternoon, two states -- Florida and Nebraska -- are still reviewing the commission's request. Another two states -- Hawaii and New Jersey -- have not returned CNN's request for comment. And while six states are still awaiting a letter from the commission, four of them -- New Mexico, Michigan, South Carolina and West Virginia -- have already pledged not to provide voters' private information.
Just three states -- Colorado, Missouri and Tennessee -- commended Kobach's attempt to investigate voter fraud in their respective statements.
