Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
It really feels like we could take just any random person off the street, and they'd still make a better president.

April 2017 is apparently now National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month... April Fools? That or it's being aware of and preventing sexual assaults by President Fuckface von Clownstick.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
It takes some balls to do that right after your lawyer argues that the sexual harassment suit against you can't proceed because you're the president.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Apparently it's been a thing since the 90s and Obama actually was the first president to recognize it in 2009.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Can't imagine why President Clinton wouldn't have brought it up.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
The National Security Council has been reshuffled again; Bannon is no longer on it. White House claims this was the plan all along.

Bannon's off the NSC.
Interesting.
Interesting.

But meanwhile, the official US Strategic Command twitter account is straight-up posting links to Breitbart stories.

Bart: We're all gonna die, Lis.
Lisa: I meant soon.
Bart: So did I.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
Senate Republicans use nuclear option to confirm Gorsuch, as expected.
I just heard Colorado senator Michael Bennet on the radio saying that his fellow Democrats shouldn't have filibustered, because next time Trump can nominate an extremist and get him confirmed with a simple majority. Given that that is the exact thing that just happened, it is unclear how Bennet thinks that voting for cloture would have prevented it from happening with a hypothetical future Trump nominee.
I think the Dems made the right call on this one; the filibuster was as good as dead no matter what they did, and at least this way they showed some backbone for a change.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
It might have been a symbolic gesture, but sometimes that's all you have.
Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?
As far as symbolic gestures go, it's got some potentially important political ramifications: it shows the Democratic Party as (mostly) united in opposition to Trump, and the Republicans as willing to change the rules to give him what he wants.
Perception is important. Most people don't really follow Supreme Court nominations closely, but there's a larger narrative at work here. The more Democrats can reinforce the narrative that they're opposing Trump and the Republicans are giving him everything he wants, the better they stand to do in 2018 and 2020.
The most politically foolish move the Democrats could make right now would be to back Trump; it would send the signal to Trump supporters and people on the fence that he's a consensus leader, and it would send the signal to Trump opponents that the Democrats don't have their back and aren't willing to protect them from him.
Of course, at this point it's almost surprising that "the most politically foolish move the Democrats could make" is not the one they chose to make.

I like that he stumbles over saying that Hitler didn't do it to innocent people.
And as is frequently pointed out,
On Passover he does this. On Passover.

Like, there's no way Spicer survives, this right? Even if Trump saves him, he's getting shuffled to a different job... right?
