At 3 a.m., NC Senate GOP strips education funding from Democrats’ districts
...
The session finally resumed around 3 a.m., and Republican Sen. Brent Jackson introduced a new budget amendment that he explained would fund more pilot programs combating the opioid epidemic. He cited “a great deal of discussion” about the need for more opioid treatment funding.
Jackson didn’t mention where the additional $1 million would come from: Directly from education programs in Senate Democrats’ districts and other initiatives the minority party sought.
...
The amendment also changes the counties included in a program that offers stipends to teacher assistants who are working on a college degree to get their teaching licenses.
The funding level for the program didn’t change, but seven counties represented by Smith-Ingram and fellow Democratic Sen. Angela Bryant were removed. Instead, the program will only apply to several counties represented by Republican senators.
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
Well that's one step away from "no taxation without representation".
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
Didn't the Republicans of North Carolina get in trouble over something like this less than a year ago? Something about trying to take away the newly elected Democrat governor's powers while giving more to the state congress.

Kansas legislature raises taxes, overriding a veto by Brownback.
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
We're pretty excited about this, yeah. Anything to frustrate the Kochs, really.

That was kind of stunning. At least, I think it was stunning? My stunometer is pretty temperamental these days. Still, it amazes me how people who speak in public for a living can say such boneheaded things.
Also, I have a friend who's working for the Ossoff campaign. I've heard it said that if he were any more wholesome, he'd contain dietary fiber. "Seriously, it's actually really annoying."

People keep saying that this was a gaffe, she destroyed her campaign, stuck her foot in her mouth, etc, but the polls were basically tied before, and the election is two weeks out. See what the numbers on the next poll are. I really don't think this is actually going to hurt her. People who vote for Republicans LIKE that sort of thing.

Remember that even (especially) the poorest republicans believe whole-heartedly that they are not, or will not remain, poor long enough for these policies to impact them negatively.

You'd think, but people seemed to get pretty upset about Romney's "47%" speech.

Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
Apparently the latest version of Trumpcare is dead. Not just because McCain's out, but because enough Republican senators have figured out that Mitch has been telling almost every one of them a different story because the various delays are letting them all compare notes.
Of course it's the shithead wing of the party that's seeing senators turn away from the bill, so this isn't exactly fantastic news. The bill will probably hang around like some sort of zombie, or we'll see yet *another* version.
it is sort of funny though that the Senate Republicans are mad that Mitch is doing to them what they do to voters all the time.

It's still amazing/awful (amawfuling?) that this is the best they can do with a unified government.

is there such a thing as "unified in name only"? Well there is now
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
The GOP not passing Trumpcare is like the most spectacularly humanitarian thing they've ever done.
Re: GOP Will Shit Itself
They did put the End Stage Renal Disease Program in place under Nixon, but that was awhile ago.

I'm sure they'll give it another go.
