You don't remember Marx talking about trading virtual dragon bones to eat?

Man Sentenced for Smashing Seagull Against Wall for Eating His Chips

Look, animal cruelty like that is certainly terrible and you can't just go around killing anything.

That said, if like, just once that happened around here while some of the gull's friends were watching, I think I'd be okay with it.
just the fact he caught it is pretty amazing.

It makes me queasy to make fun of peoples' looks, but he does kind of look like someone who would kill an animal for trying to steal his food.

From the description, it was a purely atavistic reaction. The whole thing sounds like it was over in about a second. I think this is birdslaughter being tried as first degree. (And by a society that's happy to do way worse to millions of very similar animals if it makes lunch 5% cheaper. Mutters.)

I'd have done it. Hell, I've probably tried.

I mean, it's not like this is a jail sentence, here - this is 12 weeks of curfew and a fine. For grabbing a gull and smashing it against a wall until it was dead. That's a brutal and nightmarish act, committed by a 64 year old man who fucking well should have known to let a french fry go.

I'm reminded once again of the time I saw a seagull get mowed the fuck down by a huge semi truck because he just couldn't stop himself from going back over and over to pick over the roadkill corpse of one of his own fellows at the same spot in the road.

The question is, should the man's sentence have been lighter if he ate the bird?

No doubt most of you have seen the Boeing MAX safety fiasco, which essentially boils down to "We put in a system that overrides manual control unless you turn the system off, and also we didn't tell anyone about it. Oh, and the only reason it exists is to make the new 737 feel more like the old 737, so we can advertise that the transition will be seamless."

And then there's this:

<FryGuy> Day one DLC is even ruining plane safety.

Longer WaPo article on the US Pilot's associations warnings, if you're interested.

You might have seen in your feeds today that A North Jersey high school did a production of Alien for the school play. Unfortunately, that article was the the most in-depth about the costumes, which are really the whole story.

This might just be over-reacting to this story due to being overwhelmed by similar issues with media as a whole, but I am pissed off to no end that the articles are all "kids do alien play, lol awesome" and the body is "and the props were even recycled materials, idkmybffguactoastmirite?" which are pretty much the least important aspects of the story "practical FX genius discovered in North Jersey!"

My first question is how do you adapt the central scene of that story for actors and an audience that are already familiar with the term 'chestburster'?

I'd argue that the audience's familiarity probably makes the chestburster scene easier for a stage production, because you don't need to worry as much about whether the people in the back can see and understand what's happening.
