Seeing as selling stolen artifacts is the primary source of income for ISIS, seems like it's safe to say Hobby Lobby funds radical Islamic terrorism.

I heard they got these artifacts before ISIS came around, but it's probably a safe bet that that money turned into AKs and suicide bombs at some point.

Order $25 worth of spices and get a "The Republic Is Collapsing and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" t-shirt. Order $50+ and we'll throw in a fun "The Best lack all Conviction while the Worst are Full of Passionate Intensity" tote bag.

We really should have a schadenfreude thread for little miracles like this.

Thread title suggestions?

Gotta say, as much as everybody loved John-Paul II, I never really felt "good" about being Catholic while he was around as much as I do now.

Well, sort of good. JP the 2 had things under control; I feel like most other Catholics try to just ignore Franky and hope he goes away soon.

One wag described Frank's tenure as a man trying to drain a swamp with a plunger.

There's good evidence that American Catholics shifting toward the Democratic Party. The linked article focuses mainly on Trump's influence as a one-off, and of course usual caveats about 2016 polls' bias toward Clinton, but despite that I think there's still good reason to believe a long-term shift is occurring. I'm sure Francis makes conservative Catholics uncomfortable, but I also think that conservative Catholics are a shrinking demographic, at least in the US.

Catholics are as Conservative as they once were, they're just shifting away from trying to be like Baptists. "Wait... don't we want everyone else to become part of our family? Where did this purity crap come from?"

Rob Paulsen has spent the past year fighting throat cancer. It's in remission and the doctors say there's no sign of it anymore, but it's likely to be another year before he's back up to 100%. He's gotten his voice back and is working again.

Yeah, his (excellent) podcast went on hiatus without explanation for about a year, including no updates to his personal website; I had started to wonder and worry about the guy around the time that he came back with an episode explaining the whole situation. As much as he delves into the same stories and jokes a little too often on his podcast, it's really a fucking treasure for anyone who digs animation and his absolute love for what he and his various friends and coworkers do comes through every time. Hearing him first explain that he'd contracted throat cancer before getting the full story about his success getting through it felt like a punch to the gut.
