Well, Jerry Olivarez (and the Daily Beast's original stories about him ripping off Stan Lee have been corroborated by multiple sources at this point) seems skeezy enough to do it at least.

I could also see a scenario where the ink is just regular ink, but Olivarez has someone "leak" this story to TMZ to get people buying them, which would still be damned weird. But then again, the comics have been sold already... apparently?

Honestly, this completely fails to bother me in the slightest. "I can snort a condom up my nose and pull it out my mouth" is exactly the sort of gross stunt teens and cishet men have been pulling to impress each other for decades, there is nothing new or shocking about it. Used to be cigarettes when more people smoked.

Regardless of whether or not anyone has actually stolen his blood, there are increasing reports that Stan Lee's health is failing and his caregivers are exploiting him, and possibly outright abusing him.

I don't want to link to any of the allegations; instead, I'll link to this post by Mark Evanier, who admonished, a month ago, that we shouldn't speculate, and that the press is doing too much of that.

Beyond that, a lot of it's speculation from afar and that's not helpful. I personally have some very mixed feelings about Stan Lee but I have enough affection for him to not add to the pile of rumors, some of which are obviously wrong or askew. I'm convinced there are enough lawyers and law enforcement officials and benevolent friends of Stan swarming around this matter that he's now as protected as he can be, and that the truth will eventually come out, though maybe not in his lifetime. What matters most now is his health and comfort…and I'm thinking he could also do with a little privacy.

Of the stories I've read, I don't know what to believe. I don't know what's true and what's just innuendo, but it's clear that something is very wrong here, and it's heartbreaking.

This wouldn't matter outside of Sweden... except that the Swedish Academy is responsible for issuing the Nobel Prize in literature.

Also, as an update to the above article, two more resignations have in fact followed. Which means that on paper, the Academy will die out with these last eleven members and cease to be able to award the Nobel Prize in Literature once there are fewer than seven of them left.

Really though... I have to imagine that at least the King of Sweden would have some way to legitimately override his predecessor given such an extreme situation? Even if such a solution had to go through the Riksdag as part of the process (I have no idea how constitution of Sweden deals with questions concerning royal institutions like this), I can't imagine it's in any politician or Swedish royal's interest to let the Academy actually collapse.
