TA you're a contract lawyer, aren't you?

Does this mean that Wu-Tang and Bill Murray are now legally allowed to steal it back from the DoJ?

You can also send a free fax. Not that I've got much faith in Flake or McCain, but I did.

It's bad.

Whatever you can imagine is in there, the reality is probably worse:

At least you'll have jokes to burn to keep you warm in your tarpaper hovels this winter:

Bob the Brain took the hastily scribbled crayon pages, laid them out end to end all over the Byers household.

"There," he whispered. "There, this is it! Right there!" he emphasized, jabbing at a tangled node of crisscrossing lines.

"What? What IS IT?" whimpered Joyce Byers, leaning over the spot and screwing up her face even tighter.

"The pee tape," he replied. "It's hidden inside the biggest tax loop of them all."

I'd really like to see more articles focusing on how media mega-mergers are bad instead of how cool it's gonna be to see Wolverine in a Captain America movie.

(Hell, I'm not even sure I buy the premise that this is good news for superhero fans. You ever see Marvel Studios making anything like Logan or Legion? And there goes that Noah Hawley Dr. Doom movie.)

MSU Today: MSU Scholars trip over TWENTY-ONE TRILLION DOLLARS gone missing through untracked "overbudget spending" at the Department of Defence and Department of Urban Development for the period 1998-2015

Oh and the DoD is now going to undertake it's first-ever external financial audit as a result.

TWENTY-ONE TRILLION DOLLARS

WHAT THE FUCK

I mean... never mind the sheer size of the number, that's also 54000% over budget. I can understand bureaucrats who overspend their budget to make sure it's increased next year, but... not by a factor of FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY!

Anyway my apoplexy aside, no idea if this is just going to be a case of bad math or what the hell's going on. Perhaps we're about to find out where all the money in the world went to. Or not. That article explains their methodology as “find documents that say a number, then add all those numbers together.”, so who the hell knows.

Anyway, all I can think of is the scene from The Last Boy Scout (dating myself here) where Noble Willingham's character is in a swimming pool monologuing to Bruce Willis and goes "A Billion Dollars! That's niiiinnne Zeeroes, boy!"

Well, a trillion is twelve. I suppose twenty-one trillion is technically thirteen.

Meanwhile, a bit of levity, so we can briefly forget that it's possible that funds exceeding the entire American GDP for 2017 may have just... up and vanished.

Actually, I should show this to my dad (who does retirement planning along with all the insurance stuff), and see if he even gets it.

Sure there will!

Some guys at Michigan State will go missing under "mysterious circumstances".

(Probably) Kidding aside, I think they'll find out it went to military contractors... just not the ones listed in the budget records. Probably what this really means is simply that the current military budget is complete and total bullshit and that the REAL way the DoD project funding works now is that you get a bullshit "public" budget and then anytime your subdepartment need wants more cash for whatever stupid and wasteful (with the occasional worthwhile one thrown in there to mess things up) you just ask and say you can't give more information Because Security and they just give it to you.

So maybe that's not "missing" per se. But it IS twenty years of unscrutinized project expenses, under-the-table pork barrelling, and massive accounting fraud. And yes, maybe some black ops stuff too.

This makes me sick. And not just because I'm in the under $30,000 category.

Again: Calculated to start hitting after 2020.

Which means the GOP is not only already planning to sabotage the next President but is also already pretty certain they know which party it's not going to be.

But don't flatter yourself by thinking this is an attack on the poor. They don't see the poor as enemies. They see the poor as game pieces.

The stock market has had a bad couple of days.

We're still in "overdue correction" territory as of right now; there's no cause for panic as yet. This could be a blip, it could be the start of a recession, or it could be anything in between. We don't know.

Of course, not knowing is, itself, generally not a good thing for the stock market.
