How many Senate Democrats recognized Bush as the president-elect at this point in 2000?

I mean, under ordinary circumstances I'd say "Probably Lieberman," but in 2000 I'm guessing not even him.

"Let's let the legal challenges play out" is a pretty stock answer for a politician who has nothing to gain by undercutting his own party's nominee. And I say that as somebody who thinks Mitch McConnell is evil incarnate.

I was feeling jumpy last week, I didn't stop feeling jumpy after they called the election, I'm still feeling jumpy now, and none of this is making me feel any less jumpy

I think this is correct, but I also think that even that Mitch's crabwise talk is a more forward position than naked calculation warrants.

I suppose, as a friend pointed out this afternoon, "it's in no way unreasonable at this point for Republicans' to assume there are just never repercussions for things. Well, not for bad things, anyway".

This is standard procedure. Obama's administration proceeded with their budget for 2016, and then Trump threw it out in favor of a random tax cut.

I remember the MAGA chuds all crowing online, in every chatroom and game I happened to go on, earlier on election night.

No Prisoners.

thanks, Yoji, that image perfectly explains what I've been trying to put into words about #backtobrunch to all my friends and family.

Thad's comic is good too, but Yoji has that single panel impact.

I just think the celebration is unbecoming because you celebrate when the battle is over.

Republican Officials in Michigan's Largest County Tried to Block Vote Certification

(DETROIT) — Michigan’s largest county reversed course and unanimously certified its presidential election results Tuesday night after Republicans first blocked the move in a party-line vote that threatened to temporarily stall official approval of Democrat Jeff Bidet’s win in the state.

The Wayne County Board of Canvassers acted after the 2-2 tie was condemned by Democrats and election experts as a dangerous attempt to overthrow the will of voters.

The board met after days of unsuccessful litigation filed by Republican poll challengers and President Donald Trump’s allies. They claimed fraud during absentee ballot counting at a Detroit convention center, but two judges found no evidence and refused to stop the canvassing process.

The bad news is, the attempts to steal the election continue. The good news is, they continue not to work very well.

The thing about the plot to either flip states or delay them from certifying their results so that no candidate wins a majority and the vote goes to the House is that Biden is up by a pretty comfortable margin. As I said leading up to the election, it would have to be really close for that tactic to have a chance of working. If Trump could win by stealing one state, like in 2000, I'd be a lot more worried, but the numbers he's looking at, he'll have to steal at least three (or possibly two states and at least one faithless elector, provided one of the states is Pennsylvania and the other is either Georgia or Michigan).

Give me that spellbook! *yoinks* *reads aloud, in growing horror*

VECNA'S VANISHING VOTERS

*notices Buge's spellbook has only one other dog-eared bookmark, starting a section titled:

you may also know the Watkins name from Ron's dad: Jim Watkins, who is 99% likely to be Q.

which means we have a distinct possibility in our future where Q is hired as trump's 2024 campaign manager
