What the British public hates is all the welfare, you see. That's why they're glad they have to pay for college now

Nothing major, just a bit of fun.

Everyone I know that admits to voting leave was convinced that playing into the hands of this internal far right coup within the Tory party was somehow a great way to swing British politics to the left.

It's comedy all around really innit.

Scottish independence back on the agenda in spring, Nicola Sturgeon tells SNP conference

The campaign for a second Scottish independence referendum will be relaunched in the spring, Nicola Sturgeon has said as she moved to paint the United Kingdom as an unstable state.

In her keynote speech to the SNP conference the first minister said that she was determined to revisit the constitutional question before the end of 2023.

Looks like meat's back on the menu lads!

(Because we'll be back in the EU and have functioning trade again)

This is a very distinct part of what we came here for. Especially given the Old Country's enthusiasm for being able to strip citizenship from anyone Priti Patel doesn't like.

Kinda glad mum's not lucid enough to watch all this happen.

The great thing is, obviously it wouldn't have been simple, but England could have quit Europe without this coalition crisis... By declaring independence from the union.

I really want them to leave and then like immediately, like in 2 weeks, rejoin the EU. I know they will eventually, but I want it to be near instantaneous.

Remember the Eristic principles. Chaos, discord, confusion, bureaucracy and international relations. Given this is a beautiful example of the fractal set it's making impressive speed so far.

Hell I might even live to see the outcome!

Meanwhile our far right coup follow the Trump playbook of simply scribbling over the lawbooks with a big crayon while what should be the opposition stare frozen into the headlights. I hope enough of Scotland understands the need to get far, far away from this merrily burning fireworks warehouse. It's not just Europe and economics by an orbital long shot.

Twenty years past their due date and the Megacities are looking aspirational in hindsight. Say what you like about Dredd, at least he had an ethos.

Looks like the Royals are casting out Prince Pedo.

Short of a full excommunication, but it'll still be nice to watch him twist in the wind. Ideally from a gallows.

Britain deporting asylum seekers to Rwanda.

To be clear, they're not deporting Rwandan asylum seekers back to Rwanda. They're deporting all asylum seekers to Rwanda, a central African country 4,300 miles away, where they will be instructed to apply for asylum in that country. One of the first people they tried to deport to Africa is an Iraqi refugee.

Traditionally, anyone has the right to seek asylum in the UK. You arrive in the country, even by some unapproved means like rowing across the English Channel in a dinghy, turn yourself in to the authorities and declare that you wish to seek asylum. The government has to allow you to stay in the country until your claim has been processed, which takes some time, costs the government money, and upsets racist Tory voters.

The government's previous solutions to this included telling refugees that they legally had to apply for asylum in the first country they entered (this is false), followed by sending to stop the migrant boats (this resulted in people drowning, which had poor optics). The goal of this new policy is to technically allow migrants to claim asylum somewhere while discouraging them due to Rwanda's poor public image, what with the genocide and all. The idea is that you apply for asylum in France or Germany or something instead.

The European Court of Human rights has blocked the deportation flights, but Britain's threatening to just leave the ECHR, which would not be the first time.

The Prime Minister's ethics advisor just resigned.

My new idea is that it's not that we're on the Deus Ex timeline or the Star Trek timeline, but both.

Fits with Sharkey's "The mirror universe is actually the regular one. Roddenberry was a failed attempt (in our timeline anyway) by time travellers to bootstrap the Federation." theorem.

Boris resigned.

Classic Tory knife party.

Now if someone could convince the Brits to just, never vote Tory again. Preferably by someone who is actually worth voting for.
