I think the point being made is that "Terminally Online" is super vague as to what it actually means, and your usage to mean "Elon Musk-esque" here is not congruent with its general meaning of "posts too much" and/or "doomscrolls and has strong opinions on everything"

Nobody was trying to say you're a chud.

I'm not actually sure that's the general meaning - there's a lot of different definitions floating around. I use it to describe someone who's "fallen in the well", if that makes any sense.

Thad started out with a joke about my postcount, as he does, and I half jokingly ("capitalization"), half seriously said, basically, yeah I know I drink a lot of water, but that doesn't mean I fell in, and his reply was basically to get mad at that and continue to equivocate.

Thad probably doesn't actually think I'm a chud, but I dunno how many of you notice that it doesn't take much for Thad to reach a point where he can give me shit for what are IMO pretty trivial offences. Yet this is acceptable and normalized when most of us have long since stopped treating each other like that, because oh well Mongrel is only ever a problem and needs to have his nose rubbed in something or he'll never learn.

I'm not saying none of us should never yell at anyone online (or IRL!) - like the Godwin article says, by all means compare nazis to nazis. But having targets you permit yourself to regularly yell at online for what are comparatively trivial reasons seems exactly like the thing you'd expect from someone who has "fallen in the well".

Alternatively, there's no critical thinking at all. I'm not saying the Shirley thing isn't real, because it very definitely is, but yeah in a lot of cases there is just a void where thought should be.

One of the most frustrating experiences of my life was trying to convince my friend's mom to vote Bernie in 2016 instead of Biden, during the primaries. She was a lifelong democrat but didn't want to vote for Bernie because he was "too extreme."

So I asked her what in particular was "too extreme" about him. She said his policies. So I asked "what policies?"

"I dunno, just his policies in general."

"Can you name one policy that you think is too extreme?"

"Just in general, like I said."

I was silent for a moment. Then: "Okay so if they're generally too extreme for you, it should be pretty easy to think of one in particular that is too extreme for you."

She didn't reply and that's when I knew I had encountered the void. She had just ate up the (leftist) mainstream media's rhetoric. She had no idea what she was talking about. At all. She was just parroting the television. And yes, I know that the right wing media was also slamming Bernie, but that's not the media she watched, and if you care to remember, the mainstream leftist media was anti-Bernie at that time.

And that's what more and more I see in political discourse. Just parroting. No actual thought. And yes, both sides are absolutely guilty of this, but the right is way, way, way more guilty.

So a woman who votes for children to be locked up in cages to prevent them from poisoning the blood of our country isn't doing any thought at all. None. She is just doing what the TV told her to do, and that's it, end of story. With maybe a little dab of "owning the libs" thrown in, like whipped cream.

This is hard for a lot (not all) of the people on the left to accept. Especially very intelligent people. They have a hard time imagining how a person could go through life just... never thinking about anything.

"Not thinking about anything" is definitely something I have seen from nominal leftists, and it's not all that rare.

It's just that, in a lot of those cases, they're actually fascists or reactionaries if you really examine their beliefs in practice versus what they profess. Stalinist analogues and those sorts are distressingly common among self-professed "leftists" right now.

That can be kind of argued, but Tankies still describes more of a sort of a horribly compromised or krangled leftist. Perhaps a "vestigial" leftist. I'm talking about an increasing number who are running around nonsensically describing themselves as "leftists", when the entirely of their views and politics are about as "leftist" as National Socialism.

You know, like "Centrists".

Yesterday, Trump made a not-so-veiled threat of violence if the court cases against him don't go his way. Today, a bomb threat was called against Judge Arthur Engoron

It's easy to criticize the media, and that's only because they're mostly complicit in this shit. They've not only covered for Trump for years (often refusing to accurately report what he really says); they frequently mislead about the motives of mass shooters who leave manifestos titled shit like "How My Conservative Political Views Led Me To Commit Mass Murder," treating their motives as inscrutable

Engoron's superhuman patience seems almost ludicrous, until you realize he's doing his best to not get baited so as to make the case as appeal-proof as possible.

Trump’s White House clinic improperly handed out narcotics, report finds
For example, controlled medications, including sleeping pill Ambien and stimulant Provigil, were dispensed “without verifying the patient’s identity.” A witness told investigators “Dr. [X] asked if I could hook up this person with some Provigil as a parting gift for leaving the White House … in the unit, it was authorized for us to do that kind of stuff.”

I Went On A White House Tour And All I Got Was This Bag of Dexies

More seriously, I don't know how it surprises anyone that the Trump White house was higher than the Nazi high command was during WWII. But having it be a story and matter of public record is still nice.

The real question is how long before he defames her again.

Also if Trump can in fact clear $500 mil, because Engoron verdict is likely gonna be in the range of $400 mil and that's like next week, and Trump has to put up the actual cash right away in both cases, even if he appeals (in fact ESPECIALLY if he appeals - it's been made a precondition for filing).

RNC's not covering it for him - they had only $10 mil in the bank last November.

Starting 14 days from now, unless Trump posts the cash to get a stay, pending appeal (which would go to Carroll if she wins), Carroll can use the judgment to seize Trump's personal property in all 50 states and put liens on all of his real estate.

I AM HERE FOR THIS SHIT, OH YEAH.

Especially since there's no way Trump stops defaming her.

They released the redacted records from the Trump-era WH pharmacy and, lmao, goddamn

Image

Literally every drug on that list can be abused recreationally, like, every single one. The quantities are... impressive! No speed, but why use speed when Trump (and the entire then-WH) loooooves them some coke. Wonder who picked that stuff up for everyone?

Oh and until today, I'd failed to make the connection that the guy dispensing these was also the Trump has "very good genes" guy.
