Re: Cross-Forum Fervor! Let's Play The Sims 3!
All that nerdy reading in the library has paid off, and Beat has improved his Logic to level 10. And having both Logic and Handiness at level 10 was his Lifetime Wish!
The reward is a moodlet that almost guarantees a topped-off mood meter and lasts for a week. Oh, and 30,000 LAPs. That too. (You can see in this screenshot that the icon for Lifetime Wish has been bolted down; there's no changing it now to get another flood of LAPs from a different Lifetime Wish.)
What's next for Beat? In character discussions he told me he wanted to study Charisma, but I'm vetoing that. You guys don't need another Charisma monkey, what you need is someone who can cook.
Beat's a quick study. He bought a Reward to do that specifically.
Before you know it, everyone's sitting down to enjoy some fresh-baked cookies. Beat will start cooking actual food soon, but what the hell, it's a party.
Brentai gets some funky aftertaste from the leftovers when he gets home from work. Who keeps cookies in the refrigerator, anyway?

Based off how eerily accurate this has all been so far, don't expect me to ever make anything other than deserts.
Beat still has goals outside the kitchen though. All that training was just research to creating the ultimate party machine. But right now he can only create the ultimate machine, it's time to study the ways of the party.
Pick up Legendary Host with Speedy Cleaner to help understand what truly makes a party great... and efficent!

Sims 3 has started crashing in new, exciting, truly majestic ways. Action queues empty themselves, player characters vanish from existence, and the speakers emit a high-pitched squeal before the game crashes to desktop or does a total system freeze. It's really amazing!
But it also makes it impossible to play. The LP is on indefinite hold until I can figure out what's going on and how to stop it.

EA has detected that you have not yet purchased The Sims 4 on Origin. Your Sims 3 privileges have been revoked until such time as you have purchased The Sims 4.

That'd be absurd and ridiculous if it weren't 100% believable.

Re: Cross-Forum Fervor! Let's Play The Sims 3!
Patching up to version 1.6 fixed the crippling crash issue and replaced it with all the usual crash issues. I'll be keeping save backups from here on out, but there may be some progress lost when a crash happens in the middle of a game save, corrupting the data.
On the upside, there's some new shit like fountains and basements you can have on your house, and minor tweaks like being able to unsubscribe from newspaper delivery.
Next update will be up when I'm done with it.

Re: Cross-Forum Fervor! Let's Play The Sims 3!
Updating to the patched version did a Sim Reset on the house, which is a problem because it interrupted everyone's sleep.
So, what else is new...
The jump from 1.0 to 1.6 introduces a host of SIGN INTO YOUR ACCOUNT and VISIT THE ONLINE STORE and PAY TO WIN and SHARE YOUR CHEEVOS WITH FRIENDS and other obnoxious popups. Origin tries to auto-install every time I boot up my PC now. I think I shut off most of the nagging messages, but yeesh. The things I do to entertain you people.
Everyone's Opportunities got fucked up. Trying to perform at the Corporate Towers or trying to talk some sense into Jack Bunch are now fruitless endeavors.
So discard all the old Opportunities and enjoy some new ones as they come up. Guess I won't be unsubscribing from newspaper delivery just yet!
There are more explicitly vegetarian recipe options now. Ada was fine with breakfast cereal, vegetarian soup, and cheese pizzas before, but now the world is her soy-based cruelty-free oyster substitute.
In a neat visual effect that doesn't affect gameplay at all, Sims now dream, throwing out random thought balloons while they sleep.
It's now possible to own more than one lot, but I'm pretty sure buying another house and having Sims move into it would cause all the usual Wish- and Opportunity-deleting and LAP-stifling problems as before, so I doubt this will ever be an issue. If I find it's possible to buy out other houses and charge rent, the game may go that route instead.

Beat's effort at making breakfast could have gone a bit better...
Second time's a charm.
God bitch bitch moan moan whine whine whine
Actually Beat had a wish for a new stove, and a wish to upgrade a new object, and Silver wanted to buy something worth at least $1000, so this new addition to the house gives out a substantial LAP boost in addition to its innates that increase the speed at which Beat learns the Cooking skill, the ability to clean itself, and its ability to make food cooked on it taste better. Beat sets to work making it fireproof, just in case.
Things not fixed in the patch: basic pathfinding, as this argument over who gets to do the dishes demonstrates.

Re: Cross-Forum Fervor! Let's Play The Sims 3!
Fast-forward to the end of a mostly uneventful day, and Autumn calls Brent hoping to hang out. Guess there aren't any hard feelings... but he's too tired from work to go out now.
Ah, the sequel is never as good as the first book, right? Well no, but in this case that's true.
Ada immediately starts on the next entry in the franchise.
Silver's right beside her, cranking out the next clickbait article she needs to keep her career going.
And speaking of career progression, Brentai has reached the point where he has to choose: symphonic suites or trashed rockstar hotel rooms? He makes his choice and is stickin' with it.
He uses the promotion bonus to buy a new bed (something he had a Wish to do) -- one big enough to WooHoo in, should he ever get adequate privacy and a long-term girlfriend.
Beat spends the evening doing aerobics in front of the TV, but his soft, flabby body is not yet to the point of developing the Athletics skill from it.
So... yeah, short update overall, but my main goal was to make sure the game would actually, y'know, work. And it does! The LP shall continue.
