I picked up Theatrhythm: FF: Curtain Call a couple days ago, and when deciding which characters to unlock, I came to the grim realization that I like Snow more than maybe half of the playable cast of the entire series put together. But I guess Lightning is the main character in that case, despite how for most of XIII, if she had killed Serah herself and wanted her to stay dead, she wouldn't be acting any differently.

So I'm voting Cloud (but only post-wheelchair nice guy gives-airsickness-advice does-his-best-because-it's-the-right-thing-for-the-right-reasons Cloud), Zidane and Balthier.

I interpreted "Best" as "hottest" and decided not to discuss publicly how very pretty basically every FF protagonist is in their concept art.

Having just read through this Final Fantasy retrospective, I feel confident asserting that the best Final Fantasy antagonist is Kefka and the best protagonist is the wandering alchemist with the clock disguise.

She at least had those scenes where she was like babysitting Larsa or something, fuck if I can even remember. Also she got kidnapped at one point I think? I mean, yes she was irrelevant but still not as irrelevant as Vaan

I mean even Balthier's only real contribution to the plot is the fact that he brought his asshole dad's airship with him

He does also say that he is the "leading man" a lot. I feel like that has to count for something.

Maybe they were each, as the story was "developed" supposed to be the male lead or male (primary) point of view player character.
