We're gonna be doing the Ro64 in groups of 4, with two votes allowed, two games moving on and two eliminated. I could do it in groups of 8 with 4 eliminated, but I feel that would wipe out too many games that honestly don't deserve it.

All match ups are determined at random, as usual. Voting for each match will last one day, when the poll will close automatically. Tiebreakers will be broken by yours truly.

Right, lets get this started.

First up!

59. Secret of Evermore
26. Shadowrun
50. Flashback
13. Super Metroid

Super Metroid gets play right out of the gate. Are you that eager for the blood of your enemies, Samus?

P.S. I am extremely gay for Shadowrun despite it's myriad flaws and I may cheat to make sure it wins

Note: I would like to remind everyone gently that while I have no conditions on how you are supposed to vote, please don't vote to cause intentional ties. I'd like to avoid having this be "Friday decides what games advance" as much as possible.

Except for this round.

You can tie Shadowrun for second if you want. That's fine.

What's that? Do our best to conspire to bury Shadowrun as #4 losing forever?

Secret of Evermore is a really cool game that's maligned for a lot of unfair reasons, but it's not as really cool or maligned as Shadowrun is by far. Flashback has a pretty okay Game Center CX episode but I've never been super into that style of adventure platformer thing personally. Super Metroid etc etc.

Secret of Evermore was ok. It was just much better when it was called Earthbound.

I've run about a billion of these polls by now and I can tell you one thing for certain: reverse psychology doesn't not not not not not not not not never not never never not works

Just-- as someone who rolled too hard in FASA's GenCon booth in my misspent youth, the Genesis version of Shadowrun spoke to me in a way I better understood.

Dog is still a great totem though.

Doge controls your destiny. Seek out three items of his favor and then seek his shrine. Wow.

But seriously I think one of my favorite things in the game is how you can hack into a heavily guarded comp in Drake Tower to get Drake's phone number and then call him.

This accomplishes nothing gameplay-wise and only serves to piss him off.

DAMN IT Shadowrun vs. Evermore but I voted before I scrolled down and now I feel like I am CALLOUSLY DISREGARDING Friday's HEARTFELT PLEA.

Haha, you guys, you tied up Evermore and Shadowrun just for me

*single tear*

But seriously, it's a shame to see Evermore go round 1, because I love me some Evermore. But in the end my homosexuality leans more toward cyberpunk.

Advancing: Super Metroid, Shadowrun
Eliminated: Secret of Evermore, Flashback

Next up:

60. Megaman X3
33. Earthworm Jim 2
44. Super Punch Out
35. Zombies Ate My Neighbors

No super heavy hitters this time, but quality. Should be a decent match.

Last I checked, Zombies Ate My Neighbors was actually a heavy hitter. It's sequel, not so much, but this iteration was supposed to be the Gauntlet-y-est thing you could get on SNES for quite a while.

Also, did anyone ever switch to Zero in X3?

I've never played Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but I read about it in Nintendo Power, so

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a game that gets by far more on style than gameplay, but it's damned good style. The X series is weird in Mega Man numerology, since X2 and X3 aren't really all that great of a leap over X1. X1 was just too damn good out of the gate to have the same leapfrogging quality that MM2 and 3 had, and X4 was the one that shook things up with a platform jump. X3's kinda forgettable. I don't think I could name a single boss from it without checking. Super Punch Out is very good and has beautiful fucking sprite work. Earthworm Jim 2 has a boss named Flamin' Yawn and newts.

Zombies and Punch Out.

I skipped over X3. I think I read about it in a magazine, but never played it. Then I got it on an emulator, and... wait... air dash? Those spinning blades that fly off behind you? Vile comes back?

I remember this.

I can only assume that I had rented the game once, played through most or maybe all of it, and forgotten about it entirely. When you say it's forgettable, you ain't kiddin'.

The only time you switch to Zero is during that one boss fight that lets you get his Z-Saber afterwards if Zero's the one who kills it.

Zamboes and Punching moves on with 8 and 7 votes.

48. Breath of Fire 2
38. Demon's Crest
19. Blackthorne

I played Breath of Fire 2 kind of late. So I played it at about "that time".

I once gave a presentation on ants to my 7th grade science class based solely on knowledge gained through SimAnt and the included Ant Encyclopedia.

I never played Sim Ant on the SNES, but that didn't stop "your guts are dissolved and drained away" from probably being the cause of my arachnophobia.

Yeah... that reading doesn't happen in the SNES version. There's still a big photo of a cartoon spider, so I won't do that to you.
