I can't believe that one of SoulBlazer and Shadowrun will be in the final four.

SoulBlazer. Because Metal Mantis coming back in Illusion of Gaia once you'd secretly done all his dirty work for him was fucking awesome.

Super Metroid may be my favorite Metroid game, but I have to acknowledge that is standing on the shoulders of (and face of) a better game, albeit a less approachable game. Metroid II: Return of Samus is the game that actually deserves the plaudits that Super Metroid earns. Metroid II's environments are designed more consistently and more thoughtfully where Super Metroid coasts on convenience and convention. Super Metroid is a dungeon delve; it's about exploring and violating and furious vengeance. Metroid II is about stepping away from attempted genocide. It is a methodical slaughter, punctuated by a chance at redemption.

So, SoulBlazer, obvs.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who liked Metroid II better.

That's half the fun of an unseeded tournament.

I'd never heard of either of these.

Gameplay looks awesome.

See you, Shadow Cowboy.

Last but not least:

1. A Link to The Past
vs
3. Mega Man X

As far as I can tell, these games are equally hardcore action JRPGs.

This is a tough one.

Mega Man X is the best in the series and possibly the best jumpy shooty platformer out there.

LttP is a great Zelda game.

Both have rockin' music.

LttP is not my favorite Zelda, but MMX is probably close to my favorite Megaman.

I'm more of a Mega Man fan than I am a Zelda fan. That's really all it comes down to here for me.

Close, but I can get lost in LttP for weeks, rather than MMX's day.

Going with LttP on this one. I've played both a ton, both I consider about as perfect as a game gets, but I'm giving Zelda more props for that.

Only one of the games in this matchup is a game I played so much it caused me to be in a mental hospital.

And it's not Jump n Shoot Man.

If I ever end up doing this whole one-man youtube a cappella thing it'll be out of frustration with that guy's autotuned, overproduced bullshit
