Hottest SFC Game Ro64

Postby LaserBeing » Wed Mar 18, 2015 1:48 am

ITT we decide the best Super Famicom game ever

"hey wait a minute I thought we just did this—"

SHUT UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP! FUCK YOU! CAN'T YOU READ?
This is for the Super FAMICOM you ignorant baka gaijins! Because some of this hardware's most important games were import... only! (see what I did there) And many of them have now been translated by our friends at The Internet, opening them up to a wider world, so it's only fair that they take their rightful place in the pantheon.

but most importantly because I refuse to accept the previous scenario's ending

everyone put on your weaboots and get into the Epoch Silbird right now, we are turning this timeline around

第3章 ~ Fight!! 64 Braves Aim for the Top!

The qualifiers for this tournament of champions has begun! The first round of 64 will be fought in groups of four, with two votes allowed per voter. This contest is single-elimination, so every match is a battle for survival! Voting time will last for one day per match, except for the first match-up which I will leave open for a little bit longer to give people a chance to actually remember I started this dumb thing :3c

Also I'm going to be including box art for each game so you can vote based on the packaging even if you don't know anything about the games! This isn't fucking science

I've played about half of them I guess? Does it matter? This isn't rocket surgery, just vote for whatever seems cool and/or has the hottest anime babes on the cover

Tetris Battle Gaiden, as anyone who's ever followed Giant Bomb knows is required.
Parodius single-handedly invented the cute-em-up
Rockman and Forte is a fantastic Mega Man game that was severely crippled by its eventual US GBA release years down the line. Of the latter day Mega Man games, I'd argue it's better than 7 and 8 both (even if it had to borrow two bosses).

Sugoro Quest ++ invented Mario Party well before consoles even HAD four controllers. You had to use a dang multitap to get in on this sweet, mind-boggling action!

(actually planning on buying this some time in the near future)

It is weird to me that SMT2 and Diable LaPlace aren't there.

Also, what about that only DBZ fighting game I've played??
I think it had a choose your own adventure mode, where you selected story branches by your success or failure!

If weeaboo are serious about this, we probably also need to nominate the Tenchi Muyo SRPG.

That's a whole lot of Japanese-exclusive games that aren't Der Langrisser!

Played a bunch of those. Bahamut Lagoon, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, SMT, FFV, Lady Stalker (I remember being disappointed with either this one or Land Stalker), R SaGa 3, Seiken Densetsu 3, Tales of Phantasia.

Didn't play Popful Mail until someone got me to emulate Working Designs's version on some other system that I never otherwise dealt with (Sega CD?).

I remember some complaining about liberties DeJap took with their Tales of Phantasia translation.

You know how Legend of Mana sometimes known as Seiken Weeaboo 4 was an Akitoshi Kawazu game?
SD3 is, in most regards, somewhere inbetween Legend of Mana and its GLORIOUS PREDECESSOR.

I think it's good, but I also thought that Legend of Mana was also brilliant and beautiful and affecting.

Yeah, Seiken Densetsu 3 is a good game, in very different ways than 2 and 4. It's a pretty unique experience.

That said, SD3 is uses more inscrutable, long-ish term player choices than even Legend of Mana does. Its play feel also seems (in retrospect) more like Legend of Mana than Secret of Mana. The major holdover (in play feel which dramatically differentiates it from LoM) from Secret of Mana is the puissance and relative scarcity of magic.

EDIT IN BOLD

SD3 is a great co-op multiplayer experience in the same vein as SoM.

IF I DON'T HAVE TO BUY A MULTITAP TO FILL ALL OF THE PLAYER CHARACTER SLOTS, HOW CAN IT POSSIBLY BE AS GOOD!?

EDIT:
What I'm trying to say is that I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to chase that local, 3-player co-op in Secret of Mana. SD3 didn't seem to permit more than 2 players last I ran it. Though I ran that at a relatively lonely time.
